i bought a 7' MH Micro Magic a little over a month ago and the insert came out of the tip. Bass Pro is letting me exchange it since it's the discontinued Micro Magic from last year. I love the 7' but they do not have one in stock. They do have a 7' H and a 7'3" MH.

I mainly throw 3/8oz jigs around docks and in brush piles when the opportunity presents itself. I have several 1/2oz football jigs but I hardly every throw them.

Since they do not have the 7'MH in stock, should I get the 7'H or 7'3"MH? I've held both and like how they both feel. I don't know if I really need the heavy so I'm undecided. Thanks.

I have the 7' heavy for the same purpose; 3/8 oz jigs around docks. Love the rod. I've been using it for 3-4 months and has caught the hundreds of fish.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards the Heavy a little bit.

One thing I forgot to put in my original post is that I have a birth defect if my right arm. I hold the rod in my right arm and set the hook with it. I'm thinking the Heavy action will help drive the hook better. Am I right or will the 7'3" MH help drive the hook since I'm picking up a little more line on the hook set?

Anybody else?

You should go with the heavy action. Duckett rods are great but they are a little softer than other brands so the Heavy power will be perfect for what you are looking to do with it.

Duckett Fishing will overnight you a tip for that rod if you call them.

Thanks for the info.  I probably should have called them first but I have a tournament on Wednesday and did not know if it would arrive in time and did not want to gamble on it.

I have two duckett a 7'3mh and a 7'3 heavy that heavy power will do better overall IMO. I do however really like the softer mh power for swim jigs when the bite is aggressive the rod loads up well and has some forgiveness for swimm jig bites. Plus the 7' will offer a little more accuracy then the 7'3
