Headed to Wyoming in late June 2016 for a wedding at the grand tetons would love an excuse to pull my bass boat up there! Only thing im seeing is its mostly a trout area. Are there any bass lakes close to the Tetons? Large or smallies?

We took a trip to Jackson hole a couple years ago. Pretty sure the only fishing around there is for trout, but it's good. Only bass fishing I know of is in southwest Wyoming/northeast utah at flaming gorge.

I was just at Jackson lake right below grand tetons. we hammered the mackinaw trout there. flashers with rapala hardbaits and flatfish were the ticket. caught 18 in one day to 3 pounds. orange meat like salmon. don't thing theres any bass at all in the area.

No BASS fishing near there,The closest place for bass is probably Flaming Gorge Res. But I agree there is some dang good trout fishing there.

ok cool i want to fish for sure, looks like its trout fishing! I'll be there next june. Can someone school me on what works best there in June? All i a have are bass lures. Do trout hit topwater? Could i use a bait caster? especially if your saying they are 3#.  I hate to buy a fly rod for just a one time use. But i probably would anyways ha.

To go to the Grand Tetons and bass fish is just wrong....it is like going to a seafood restaurant and ordering a grilled cheese.

When I live in Wy we did a lot of fly fishing in the mountain streams. You will find small lakes hidden in the mountains that would fit a canoe or kayaks.

Went up to Jackson Hole two years in a row. I met a guy in the town square that showed me around and took me fishing one day.

I'll just say that this was my reaction to him calling the morning after asking if I wanted to go again.

I have pics somewhere of some good cutthroat trout.

I was lost almost the entire time we were fishing, but I know at one point we were on the snake river. Jackson hole is a really cool town. Plenty of places to eat and drink. They have all kinds of little shops and a couple really cool outdoors stores.

Ririe Reservoir in Western Idaho has bass, as does the Snake River downstream of Pocatello (smallies).

If you know how, or are willing to learn, try fly fishing. I took a trip to yellowstone before I was into fishing, now I'm dying to get back up there with a fly rod. Yellowstone has a ton of awesome spots for all kinds of trout fishing.

you can usually find a fly shop that rents pretty nice equipment, or you can use a fly with some sort of weight or bobber on a lighter rod. If your not familiar with trout fishing or fly fishing, I would recommend looking into a guided trip; guides can show you so much more in real life than anyone on the internet. trips can be pricey though, so don't feel like you have to spend 500 bucks for a day on the water to enjoy the area.

Some amazing Small mouth in the Flaming gorge. its 3-4 hrs south of the Tetons. so if you stay in Rock Springs a day or two it wouldn't be regretted. If you take I-80 to Rock Springs you'll be taking 191 N to Pinedale onto Bondurant and Jackson Hole.

Its a twenty minute drive south of RS down 191 S. State record is only 5 lb 14 oz and that's just lack of reporting.

3 lb Smallie

Huge Wyo Smallie!

If you can, pick up a 3 weight and learn to cast. Fishing mountain rivers for cuthroat, brookies, and rainbows is amazing.

Yes, fly fishing is where it's at around there. But a light spinning rod with 4-6 lb line and inline spinners such as Mepps, BlueFox Vibrax or Panther Martin work. Size 0 or 1.

Just realize the fly-fishing crowd will snub their nose at you. But you'll most likely out fish them.

And depending upon rate of snow melt, that time of year could still mean high muddy water runoff.

Ditto Flaming Gorge. Cool place to catch smallies. Again, runoff may force you down the lake to Wyoming/ Utah border area to find cleaner water.
