Super User HoosierHawgs Posted July 17, 2015 Super User Posted July 17, 2015 I guess since the iCast cat is out of the bag... I'm in love with my Pro G. Nice! Also looks like they made a new Laser MG. Still graphite frame and 8 bearings, but it's new LFS build looks slick and I'm guessing palms well. If you're looking for an entry level reel, it's it. chelboed Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 The hook hanger is done very well. It has a nice positive "click" detent when it locks out and in. I've used it instead of my rod's hanger. It has a closed loop and open loop so you can hook an open hook or closed snap...whatever you want. It's executed very well whether you want it or not. It tucks completely out of the way. The line size indicator is well done too. Whether you want one or not...it's executed very well. The meat and potatoes of the reel is stellar. Casts a mad mile. The gears on my 7.5:1 are even smoother than my old 6.4 Team Pro. Lower ratios are inherently smoother than high ones due to the larger pinion...I can't imagine how smooth the 6.8 will be. Quote
bootytrain Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 I guess since the iCast cat is out of the bag... I'm in love with my Pro G. so you are affiliated with LEWS Quote
chelboed Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 No...sometimes I wish I was though. Just been fishing Lew's baitcasters since I was a teenager. I live around two and a half hours from their office and store and took a trip with my parents to check it out. Quote
BassNBarry Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Was going to get another Tournament Pro when the new TPG was introduced; it turned up under my Christmas tree along with another Falcon Cara rod. I've used it 4 times since Christmas and have caught several 5-plus pounders with the recent winter thaw. The G is a beautiful machine and I love the innovations, especially the hook keeper. More than anything, I am all over the 7.5:1 ratio. It's helped me land several fish that made strong runs to the boat. It did take awhile to tune the brakes, but once I got it where I like it, haven't had a backlash. Quote
