BassAnglerPro Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Hello I'm Tom, I fish very often in a small 20 acre lake. The bass in there are catchable, but for some reason have not been biting that much...We used to pull out 30 bass per-person, but now 30-ish is the grand total. The bass used to be ALWAYS shallow but now they are scattered. Where is the best location in a lake this small? Also what is the best lures/rigs. Quote
BASSPATROL247 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I would think tou could dang near cast across something that small..how long has this been going on? Been this way all summer? Was there a winter kill? Water that small in my experience the catch rates are pretty much always the same give or take and if all the sudden im not catching them like normal for a period of time something happened to the bass, some or alot died or someone went in there and removed a bunch, domt yake mjch at all to ruin a pond by over harvesting. The bass just had the slow biting basically, never been a kill off, I just want to know were to go in the pond, and best rigs/lures type. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted July 10, 2015 Super User Posted July 10, 2015 How often have you and your friends been catching 30 fish apiece ? Maybe they are becoming lure shy . Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 10, 2015 Super User Posted July 10, 2015 Welcome to BR Tom, It makes it difficult to suggest what to do when we don't know what region in the country you are located at. We also tend to assume you are asking about largemouth bass? Are you and your buddies keeping or releasing the bass and approximately what size are they. Last but not least, what type of tackle like rod/reel, line and lures do you use? Tom Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 10, 2015 Super User Posted July 10, 2015 Try fishing at night. Summer time is Prime Time Night Bass fishing Season. A-Jay 1 Quote

Maybe post some pictures of the lake and we could suggest where we would hit. Not seeing the lake it would be very hard to point to the best location in a lake. Also not knowing what you have tried lure wise I would say get some soft plastic worms. For me when nothing else is working the Texas rigged worm usually works. Try different presentations till I find something they like. Quote

papajoe222 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Welcome. Many things could contribute to the numbers difference. Other anglers may have reduced the numbers, the forage base may have been depleted forcing the fish to seek out a variety of food in different locations, I could go on. Best spot? Best Lure? Those types of questions require more information and even then, general areas and a number of different lure types will be the type of answers you'll see the most. There is a ton of information on this site in the form of, not only the forums, but articles, videos, etc. Do a little surfing on the site and you'll likely be able to figure out a good strategy or at least be able to supply the members here with some specific information to help you determine the answers. 1 Quote
