d_rosss Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 The ceramic ring inside my abu garcia vengeance rod somehow fell out. Does anyone know any quick fixes to this? Quote
Shanes7614 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Go to a bait shop that carries inserts o check Abu website and order a new one and pop it in. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Inserts are not replaceable. The whole guide needs to be replaced. If this is the tip top there are kits available or a good tackleshop should be able to help or atleast point you to a local builder. Quote
RangerDanger Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Tips are glued on with hot glue. Heat it up with a lighter, pull it off, buy one the same size, heat up some hot glue, wipe on end of rod, twist on new guide, wipe off excess, and let cool. I've seen a kit that has 3 tips and the glue at many different sporting goods stores. 1 Quote

The insert has a smaller inside edge which is what holds in in the original metal frame. They snap right in. No glue or adhesive needed. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 If it holds long term, cosider yourself lucky. Once the flange is compromised they're prone to continuing problems. 1 Quote
Shanes7614 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Did it to fix an older shimano rod and hasn't moved since being installed and has been going strong for about 10 years now. One reason I said to research the size is to prevent compromising the flange like you've stated. The tips are an easy fix with the kits as you've stated as well. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted July 9, 2015 Super User Posted July 9, 2015 Huh? Someone sells inserts? Tell me more. 2 Quote
