Any of you want to talk me out of getting this rod during the 15% off deal?  Looking at the 7'MH version of the glass crankbait rod.  Really wanting to go glass and have been wanting to try a Dobyns so this just seems like a good time, good fit.  Any experiences with one?

Thanks.

Lots has been written here and other sites especially if you are referring to the 705cb glass fast action rod. Not sure what you want to know about the rod? It excels at square bills, spooks, and spinnerbaits and chatterbaits around light cover or open water. I have used mine for lipless cranks and some swimjigs too but again not where I need rip it around grass. Love mine for reaction baits but I am far from a die-hard power fishermen so I haven't sampled alot of other rods like this one. Here is mine paired with a Citica 200e with anodized blue Hawgtech parts and CF handle.

I have one. Love it. Put a Curado I on it w/ 12# Tatsu and couldn't be happier. You really feel that glass come in when you set the hook for sure. I was on the fence when I was shopping but I'm glad I went with it. Very versatile.

I think you should swing for the fences and get an Orochi XX Swingfire. :eyebrows:

Kidding (not kidding). I prefer graphite but I can't say anything bad about the Dobyns glass rods. You'll be happy.

I knew you guys wouldn't let me down and would tell me to get it.....

I'm looking at the 705MH because I would like it to also throw some 20ft divers on it and thinking that it would be best if i got the 705....  anybody feel strongly that i should maybe get the 704 instead?

Dobyns makes the best cranking rods out there (that I have found/used). I personally own a 765CB and a 684CB. Take advantage of this sale if you have the cash to spend and get yourself something nice that will last you a very long time.

That is the best cranking rod IMO. I mainly use it for squarebills and medium divers since thats the majority of cranking I do.

Agree with all the above, especially kickerfish's comments. The first crankbait rod I reach for is my 705CB glass (F and MF).

Oops, meant F not MF. Have no experience with the MF glass version.

I am definitely interested in the new 736 Glass that they're unveiling at Icast.

As am I. I've been searching for a dedicated chatterbait rod.

I have a graphite 705. It's a nice rod for sure. I'm not sure how well it'll do for cranks that dive to 20ft though. I don't throw anything like that, but they would be at the upper end of the lure rating. Might feel overloaded a bit. Hopefully someone can give you an exact answer on that. Mid divers up to about 12ft are the max for me.

I personally wouldn't want to throw dt20 type cranks on the 705. I'd be looking at the 765 or 804.

I use the 705 glass for squarebills/mid divers. works perfect.

i throw squarebills or mid divers the majority of the time so that would be the primary purpose for the rod, not to mention the waters i fish aren't all that deep anyways.  only at certain times would i ever throw something beyond 10 or 12ft diver.

Always expedite. $5 2-day for a rod is so worth.

Unless you throw tiny cranks like warts all day or something I wouldn't. I went 705 because I wanted it to work for EVERYTHING and it pretty much does. Even the small 3/8oz cranks it does ok with as long as you don't reel them in too fast. I use mine for everything from cranks to glides and swimbaits to jerkbaits to spinnerbaits to wake baits... It really does it all. I feel like the 704 would top out too low to truly match the versatility of the 705. It would be a fantastic compliment to have them both but if you're only getting one I'd 100% go 705.

Edit: Just saw your post. Nice work!
