Is the hype around this true? I bought a wacky rig tool and some senkos but have yet to fish them!

Kills them everytime, my go to technique. Gotta have the o-ring and use a wacky or dropshot hook

That's what I heard! I can't wait to use it, the fishing has been bad for everyone this year.

It is true, but you don't need a wacky rig tool or O-rings,

all you need is a W-rigged stick worm

X2 just a hook and whatever your wacky rigging.. oh and yes they work, very well...

Yep, the wacky rig works for me.  Deadly technique.

I often fish them under a float but it's not necessary.

Instead of under a float, try under docks!!! ;)

I recommended the o rings beacause the senko lasts a long time with an o ring. For about 1 cent an o ring. Makes it worth it for me and i get just as many bites

I would but there aren't many docks here on the river bank in my neck of the woods.  :)  But I like to drift them float-less as well, and toss them under overhanging trees.

Yup. Works like magic

My rig of choice most of the time.

Though I don't use a rigging tool,

sometimes I'll use shrink wrap...

3/8" electrical heat shrink tubing with the hook perpendicular works better with or without a weedguard.

i use 5'' Yum dingers and 5'' Big Bite Baits trick sticks with an Owner Wacky hook in 1/0
i don't feel the need to use o-rings even though i have some , never tried them yet and probably never will :Idontknow:

It has saved the day for me 3X this year. So don't be afraid to start out wit it. It works especially well when you know fish haven't seen it or it's been a long time. I have a combo just for wacky rigs. I usually keep one rigged now until they show they won't bite it. Then I'll tie something else on that combo. Try them around obvious cover like overhanging limbs, docks, laydowns, etc. WATCH YOUR LINE. It can mean the difference between a fish swallowing the bait and getting lip-hooked.

I suppose after a decade or more of success, we can't really call it hype anymore.

I've spent a lot of time tossing senkos and I can honestly say that I've never caught a bass with a wacky rig.  Zero confidence.

I feel genuinely sorry for you.....

I figured you were joking or trolling, but your post says "honestly."   Wow.

I was out for a few hours this morning and things were a bit slow.  I caught my biggest bass on a wacky-rigged Senko (and a 7 lb. 1 oz. walleye and a 10+lb. drum on a shallow crank bait!).

I have lots of confidence in the ol' wacky rig.

Tight lines,

Bob

Wacky works. I have literally had people on the bank laugh at me when they saw me throwing it because it looks so ridiculous.......that is until they saw me catching fish with it. Then they wanted to know what it was and how I caught fish on it.
