I enjoy top water -hollow body frogs, and pitching to shallow water cover.

Favorites are jigs, swimbaits, big worms, anything top water, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and structure spoons.

Least favorite and most productive for numbers are drop shot, slip shot and nail weight worms. Only fish finesse when the bite is off, that is about 1/2 the day time during the summer period.

Tom

PS, should trolling any lure for any fish to the dislike list, except it's a very effective technique and teaching tool.

Good summation.

You might consider trying a weedless swimbait fished on top of your favorite jig coverts.

Bass often hook themselves on swimbaits, and if there's any difference in mean size it might be upward :eyebrows:

Roger

I need to try that. I've got a few cheap Storms with the exposed hook but they hang too much. What brand do you like? To the OP...not trying to hijack :).

I use a T-rigged "Gambler Big EZ", but flank-rig the bait to increase the hook gap, and BURY the hook-point (no Texskinning)

To keep the bait running high (just inches below the surface), I use a small 3/16 oz bullet sinker with a punch stop.

You want a lead or steel 3/16 oz sinker, because tungsten has a smaller diameter which means a smaller weed-shield.

Rigged in this manner you'll be able to sled thru the heaviest spatterdock (bonnets). The more it bounces around the better,

the same as a crankbait deflecting off cover. Bass really slam swimbaits, and it still gives me gooseskin

when they blast it next to the boat  :surprised:

Good Luck

Fav: Finesse Swimbait

Least: Crankbait ... can't seem to get them working for me.

What do you mean when you say, "finesse swimbait"?

Favorite:Power Fishing, all types. Squarebills, Spinnerbaits, Walking Baits. Anything I can cover considerable water with, and catch good numbers and size where I fish.

Least: Carolina Rig. To me its unwieldy, slow, and I have a hard time knowing what's going on beyond the weight.

Most: I can have a good day throwing topwater within an hour of sunrise/sunset and a jig the rest of the day.

Least:  I don't know...I really try not to get to prejudiced against any method, because I never know when I'll have to resort to it; and when I do, I know that any presentation will only work for me if I have some confidence to throw it correctly..... -- but, generally, flukes and dropshot mean that I'm starting to feel desperate.  I've had good days with them and I hesitate to say that I dislike them...its just that when they come out, it means I've been struggling.

Sounds like Carolina rigs aren't on your favorites list either from another post you've made. Lol. Me as well.

I know how effective this technique is. I have two boxes LC Sammy and Gunfish.

I tried top water several times, but I didn't have any luck with it.

I always push myself to learn it, but delay it for next time. Maybe it's because I do well with t-rig and jig.

This weekend, I'm taking all that I learned from that other post and I'm going to slaughter them with a deep c-rig.... :)

And, to be honest, I've done OK with lightweight c-rig on spinning gear up to about 12 FOW....I do have trouble casting one, but I won't deny it can be effective

Lol, I didn't mean to reply above and the post here made no sense. I think made two posts on my phone from my pocket.
