Storm's Rattlin Thin Fin , Hunts

I picked up a well used shallow diving Storm Rattlin Thin Fin at a second hand shop this winter. I'm always looking for old gems like this and finding one is as exciting as catching a fish.  I've been using it some , having some success in a reservoir that is in flood stage .  Anyways with all the chatter about crankbaits that hunt I'm here to report that the this Rattlin Thin Fin cast well and hunts like mad . Dont know if they all do but I'll be keeping an eye out for more .

I have caught all sorts of fish trolling a small blue and silver Thin Fin. It's the simplest lure made but it works. Have caught brown trout on it in Lake Ontario in the spring and bass, crappie and pike in other lakes throughout the year.

The new ones work just as good for me as the older models. Cabelas sells them as do most of the other big retailers.

The Rattlin ones are hard to find . They are fatter , heavier and cast well on baitcast gear .

I like the way they float at rest, with just part of the back out of the water.  I have an all white one that I put a yellow stripe the length of each side (sexy shad) and a black dot on it. I used the yellow spike it and a q-tip to put the stripe on. When the bass were busting shad I threw it in the middle of the mess and let it sit.  The bass busted it.  Only got into this specific situation once but is was fun.

The old original thin fins are great hunters, to me the new ones arent as good...

I don't have any old ones to compare to; however, the newer ones work well for me,especially the smaller size in blue and silver. I just checked one of the new ones and it does rattle.

Mine says Rattlin right on the bill. Its thicker and heavier than the original Thin Fin .Like Rambler says . They float with the back barely out of the water .
