Lance Tyree Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 Im curious i've watched many videos on fishing in the summer but most of them are in the eastern or further northern states. why does no one ever speak of fishing in Texas? in The Texas hot heat days here when it is 100 degrees most average days. just curious what difference in lure would be compared to other northern states. Super User Catt Posted July 5, 2015 Super User Posted July 5, 2015 First welcome to bassresource Second I do not understand your question? We have two very active threads in the Central Section on Toledo Bend & Rayburn."difference in lure"? What do you mean Quote

The same lures you read about that work in northern states also work in your part of Texas as well. Take a look at other threads from areas with the same kind of heat you guys have. California, Florida, Arizona etc... Welcome to the forums. Quote
bighed Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Bass in my area lakes (North Cental TX) are pretty predictable this time of year. A good portion of the fish relocate to points, humps, and road beds and hang in about 15-20 feet of water. The thermocline is showing up well on my graph and has been running 18-24' deep. This is the time of year to throw DD22's and C-rigs for fish on the bottom and flutter spoons, DD14's, and swimbaits for the suspended fish. The fish bite well all day but get started a little later in the morning. These are just generalizations but I think you get the point. Good luck! Quote

I have had the same thoughts and I haven't found anything where someone is fishing and catching fish in this hot Texas heat. I live in central Texas and I haven't had anything luck on our lake at all. What baits or rigs should I be using for July and August in central Texas? Quote
Lance Tyree Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 First of all Thank You to everyone for welcoming me to the forum. Quote

We have two very active threads in the Central Section on Toledo Bend & Rayburn."difference in lure"? What do you mean Waters on a 100-103 degree day in my opinion differ from water tempatures on a lake in Missouri or in Michigan. My point was that you dont see many videos on how guys are fishing hot heavy dry & humid dog days of summer 100+ degree tempatures. Quote

What baits or rigs should I be using for July and August in central Texas? i work at night and get off work at 6 a.m. as soon as i get off literally every morning I haul but to the pond or to the lake and fish for at least an hour every morning. Early mornings when the sun is rising or just coming up. I've had real good luck with spinner baits and buzzbaits after 8-830 with the temperature as hot as it is now by 0800 they are not striking spinners & buzzbaits for me. I switch to plastics.. I've been having lots of luck with the swimming fluke's.. What I wish I could have luck with is a jig I have a box full of different style and colored jigs but have never had luck with any of them... Winterhawk what lake are you going to? Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 15, 2015 Super User Posted July 15, 2015 Ya right there are not many videos on fishing 100° days but there are plenty on frog fishing, punching matted grass, deep cranking, drop shot, ect. Tom Redington, Lake Fork Tackle, & Steve (Big-O) Parks are a few Texas angles with videos. Quote

Winterhawk what lake are you going to? I'll give that I try next time I go which I hope is this weekend. I was also going to try a deep diving crank up by the dam. I fish a lake which is actually dug out reservoir on a creek. It's called Brady Creek Reservoir or Brady Lake. The level has been really low the past few years, it was at 28% a month back. We just had a good few weeks of rain and I think it came up 3 feet. It's still low, not sure if there is any fish left in it or I just haven't found them yet. I'm new to bass fishing. Quote
bighed Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 what are DD22'S & DD14's?? Crankbaits made by Normans. Typically, the structure I mentioned that have fish on them are too far from shore to fish without a boat. There are fish that stay shallow through the heat of the summer though. Quote
