I just purchased a new digital tour 24v 82lb thrust trolling motor. My old one of 10 years finally kicked it.

It worked fine the first 2 months but now the cover to the switch to turn on (foot pedal)  is sticking. One out of every 10 times when I want the trolling motor to stop it stays stuck on. Anyone have this problem before, it is driving me crazy.

Mine started doing this a few days ago.  There are two screws on the right side of the pedal that hold the switch in place. remove the screws and the switch will drop out.  There is a boot that covers the pressure button on the switch, it likely came off and is up in the cover.  Pull it out and place it over the switch and then remount the switch.  If you're concerned that it may happen again, place a thin coat of silicone on the base of the boot and let it set before remounting. Be careful not to get any on the switch itself

In a pinch, I shoved a small piece of plastic bait between the switch cover/cap and the foot pedal about six years ago and it has worked great ever since.   lol

Remove the boot and clean it. You may have got something in it.

Seriously, just a little shim under the switch cover/boot thingy and your troubles will be over.    Anything thing thin will work, I just so happened to use a piece of soft plastic (you can see the blue flake in the picture).   It holds the switch cover up off the switch slightly plus alters the angle a bit to reduce binding (which is why it sticks)

You might also be having a problem with the micro switch.  When I bought a new TE 82 the switch had to be replaced within 2 months.

The screws that hold the switch in place may have backed out a little.  Tighten them up and see if that fixes it.  If it does, put a dab of glue on the threads and reinstall.  Should do the trick.

A small piece of a beaten up keiteich easy shiner solved the problem. Fixed the problem and I have gotten my first response from Glenn, sweet.
