In case there are any fans of the Rage series rods or someone looking for a deal St Croix has them all up in their Bargain room online for $99. Usually means they're updating or discontinuing the rods.

I believe they may be updating them as well as a few other rod models for upcoming icast. If you're close enough to get up to their factory in Park Falls, WI you can probably get an even better deal on a rage. I think they were $99 a piece or 2 for $120 last time I was up there. They may not have that deal anymore, but it's possible.

Same blank as the Avid, just assembled in Mex-ee-ko iirc.

Jump on that deal, it is KILLER.  That's like 2-for1 and I challenge you to find someone who doesn't like the Avid blank ;)

Not same blank as Avid. It's rolled with the same graphite tho. Same blank implies the blank was rolled in Park Falls, which it is not.

Agree they are a great deal. Myself I don't care for the reel seats and handles enough that it wouldn't be worth it, plus I have too many rods as it is.

X2 an important point, another reason I always suggest the Avid over the Rage.

I have no issue with them being out of Mexico, I build on RodGeeks blanks that come out of the same factory. Calling a Rage an Avid is like calling Geeks Carbon 2 a Premier and the Carbon 4 a Legend Tournament. Similar, but not the same.

I can't get past the grips...just feels weird to me. The rod itself fishes and feels great otherwise. One of my fishing partners has a few. I'll have to alert him to this. Thanks for sharing!  That's a great price on those for Rage fans for sure!

Yeah my post likely came across wrong. It's just for me that the total package of the Avid was always a better value then the Rage given the price difference. And the US origins and resulting better warranty was the icing on that cake. Plus for me I can't get comfortable with the handles/reel seats on the Rage.

Anyone use the 7'2" mm for squarebills/cranks? I've been wanting a crankbait rod for a while now and keep going back and forth with the premier, avid, mojo.

Is it the same type of machine, same pressure and epoxy? Wait nevermind I don't actually care haha

i am pretty sure that the blanks are made in the US and shipped to mexico for assembly.  I am digging through my emails now to their customer service as i am pretty sure i asked them about it before and that is what i was told.

Hopefully I can find someone around here who carries them so I can at least hold one before I pull the trigger

I own a 7'1 Rage worm and jig rod and really like it. The grip is different, but feels a lot better than most foam handles (personal taste). I actually like the real seat/grip more than the Avid X. It's assembled in Mexico and I'm 90% certain the blanks are made here in the states. If I had an extra $120 at the moment, I'd grab two more in a heartbeat. That's an incredible deal.
