You guys wouldn't belive the amount of times my buddy and I have had wake larders come withing 20 yards of us near the boat launch of the lake we fish with a 12 ft flat bottom Jon boat. It's absoloutly absurd. They have an 8.5 square mile lake to wake board yet they choose to buzz by and throw around a johnboat with their wake in a low wake zone. Unbelievable.

Actually this whole thread contradicts that. lol. WE ALL BELIEVE IT AND LIVE IT!  :laugh5:

Nothing.

Done nothing.

Just kept fishing and ignore the jack****.

Hope he has fun and moves on or I will move on, as I have done countless times.

Yep. I am confident in my ability to defend myself and property, but there is nothing good that can come from any interaction with an idiot. I may wave in the fashion A-Jay mentioned or yell friendly suggestions of where else he can go, but ignoring is the best option.

From the middle of May until after Labor Day I alleviate this problem by fishing at night. :)

I used to get bent about it, but.... They have every right to be there too, it is public water. Unless they are going out of the way to purposely screw with me, I just curse under my breath and keep fishing. It doesn't seem to hurt the fishing anyways, and on some days it actually improves it. Now a days, I get more ticked off at other idiot bass fishermen who think because I am not rocking a $70k, 70mph rig, they can just ignore me and cut me off, or come right in on me.....I will say, that every moron that's done it, has done it once and never again for reasons I am not going to elaborate on....because sometimes I do things that make ME the jack off.

K Mac summed it up. ;-)

So then what happens? Seems as though it would turn into a bunch of he said she said unless the DNR observed it.

Plenty of news stories involving either MI-DNR or County Marine Patrols responding, and tickets issued.  A combination of too many complaints and too many accidents involving high speed boats has the law enforcement community taking a proactive part.  It's far easier to make the call and leave it to the professionals to deal with the idiots.

water skiers any pleasure boaters don't bother me unless a collision is imminent - I hold us  bass fisherman to a higher standard of behavior.

I was trolling for crappie at Sardis a few years ago and had a ski flea buzzing all around me and waking me.

I don't think the noise hurts the fishing any, but the wake is really obnoxious while trolling.

Fast forward a few hours later, I'm finishing up my limit further up the lake and I hear some voices in the distance. As I get closer, I realize it's the same idiots from before.

They are now out of gas and in need of a tow.

I just kept fishing as I closed the distance, about a mile, until I got my last fish.

Then I towed the dipsh*t in about 7 miles and just asked him to return the favor to someone in the future.

You can't fix stupid, but I may need help on the water myself one day and it was the right thing to do.

The very last page of Bassmaster magazine is always "the parting shot" which is an interesting picture that usually has a nice caption covering two pages like a centerfold. This newest issue July/August shows a wake boarder almost showering Keith Combs with water. Guy comes so close to him and the camera got the shot right near him. He stayed cool and collective. What would you all have done?

I would have reminded myself of the time G-Man got DQd for buzzing full-plane past Edwin Evers and Evers said very calmly to the cameraman in his boat "He shouldn'ta done that." Seriously, it likely made no difference whatsoever to the fish but probably bothered the fisherman to no end. I've been there. I've been at an offshore spot when two boats split me at full speed. It's why I stopped fishing the big local hydro lake.

But some of the boats that do that are bassboats and we all know that.

I'm with you. Tourney anglers stopping to fish my marker buoys really upsets me .

This reminds me of a story from my childhood. It was a Friday afternoon. My dad, a friend of his and I were fishing along a bank as we came up on an old fence row that ran out into the water. It was a place in our normal rotation. There was a guy in a bassboat sitting there who was packing up. He told us in no uncertain terms not to fish that spot because he had a tourney the next day and that was his ace in the hole for a limit. We cleaned it dry. We came back the next morning but there were no fish and no fisherman. If he had asked instead of told us I'm sure we wouldn't have fished there. At the very least we wouldn't have spent an hour there.

The traffic is one main reason I enjoy winter fishing so much more.

I used to try to warn boaters about sand bars they were going to hit. When they get stuck on them ,I start my engine and leave the area. Average cost for Towboat for them is about $300.

The exception is if I see kids onboard that could get hurt if they ground.

A guy I worked with once said "don`t fight with idiots, theres just to many of them"
