Hey guys, im currently moving to a different state but i will be stopping by my grandparents house to fish there.

 

I won't have much time so i'm going to prepare before hand.

 

 The problem they are having is that, even though they can see big fish in the water, the fish aren't biting and they have been there various days and times but still no luck. It's a small like as well with clear water.

 

They where also using live worms as bait as well.

 

Since im traveling, my stuff is going to be light, i only got worms and 2 frog lures available to my use and 20 lb fluoru and 30 lb mono.
 

 Im going to try using a 7 inch worm on a worm hook and try the various colors i got. Any other tips before i get there?

Try not to let the fish know your there .

Plus, try using speed as a weapon. Buzz a 5" grub on top.. Play around some, try night & 7" Trigged straight tail worms.

Down size and slow way down. Make short little jerks and then let it sit. If that doesn't work, just drag it and let it sit. They will eventually ce around to investigate . Be a line watcher and look for subtle changes in the line. Good luck!

You definitely must bring a natural color dressed up inline spinner.  The inline, a plastic worm or senko-type (black is good), and a very small natural looking topwater.  You can cover top to bottom.

I'd love to fish that lake...challenges are what makes fishing fun, I believe.

I'd likely also scale way down on the line size.

Two good thoughts here. Speed up, and downsize.  Seeing as the experience with live bait hasn't proved to be successful, I'd opt for the first. Speeding up your retrieve will accomplish two things. It won't give the fish a good look at your imitation and it may likely result in a reaction strike.  Keep the lure above the fish and retrieve quickly, making multiple casts, Then change your retrieve angle and do it again.  The only other advice I can give you is to purchase a Zara Spook before you get there.

There was huge pond that we used to fish back in the day that had gin clear water and big bass. During the day you were lucky to get a decent bass but at night we could go and throw spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and catch a lot of fish, and big ones as well. Those were exciting nights. Try a spinnerbait or buzzbait at night and see if you have some luck. I think you will. Good luck!

If i have time i will stop by some shop and maybe get some more bait, although i don't really know how to fish crankbaits or spinners so i will probably have to look up how to fish with those.

In the older days I pulled out a beer from the cooler, pick up a sandwich, eat, drink and burp as loud as I could, then when I was done with the sandwich I would pull out a cigarette, light it, smoke it real slow, continue drinking my beer. Nowdays, since quit smoking well, just remove the cigarette lighting and smoking´ from the equation and keep on fishing, take note on bolded print, you see ? I keep on fishing, not keep on trying to catch them, if they bite it´s cool and if they don´t bite it´s also cool, I went to fish, catching is just the cherry on top of the cake.

I  just keep trying things until either something works or I run out of time and go home. This is a time when I try a rig that I've been meaning to try but never got around to like the wacky rig. The night I pulled that out it saved me from a skunk. I caught 5 quickly and got the big one of the night.

 

Beer is often involved. And even when you fail you've learned something.

Fish it at night with Berkley 10" power worms, dark spinner bait with #9 Colorado blades.

 Downsize!!  I use 6lb. flouro in those situations.  GY Plastics make all the difference in picky situations trust me.
