I know many of you... okay, most of you, don't use live bait. But I'm still curious, has anyone used live crawfish, or seen them being used with success? I've got a lake in mind where I think they could be deadly. Just not really sure how I would use them...

I used to use live craws a lot, and they are great for largies and smallies. Haven't used live bait in a long time but when I used to, live craws were very effective. Just hook em through the tail and drop them down weightless.

Read "In Pursuit of Giant Bass", Bill Murphy, all you need to know about how to fish crawdads for bass.

Split shot or Carolina rig live crawdads have worked really well for me. Last time I fished live crawdads I caught a 5# the crawdad was crushed. It looked like it got hit with a ball pin hammer

I've had success on small rivers for largies. Pinch off their claws so they they can't grab onto a branch and get hung

I use them at night sometimes around rock and have done well before.. big chubs 6 inches under a big cigar float in super shallow water has caught lots of bass for me...i use it when its windy or no moon and vis for casting is very low...
