krd22 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I fish a lot of deep water on a highly pressured lake. We do real well with shakey heads in 30-40' range with 8 lb test. Most guys around here throw jigs, worms, cranks, and swimbaits. Has anyone had any luck with the Ned rig in 30-40' range? Quote
PitchinJigz Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I'm sure it would work well, as it's really just a downsized shakeyhead. Just make sure it's a heavier weight head on it to get it down. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 29, 2015 Super User Posted June 29, 2015 I tried to put a 1/16 oz mushroom head with 3 inches of elaztech attached on the bottom with my depthfinder reading 31 FOW. Do you know how long it took to get to the bottom? Me neither. Patience is not one of my strong suits. 3 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 30, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 30, 2015 I was fishing one on the bottom in 30+ feet at Beaver lake a month ago and catching fish. Using a 1/16oz head with 10lb braid and 8lb leader. It takes a long time to get down there, but it didn't have to sit down there long for the most part. Quote
dumfish Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I was told that the trd and the zinker will float when the salt dissolves out of the plastic. Quote

frogflogger Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I fish the rig in 20' - I go to 1/10 to 1/8 at that depth - the hula stick is deadly in the depths. Quote
EmersonFish Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 That 1/10 oz. Shroomz Jig, if you go with it, will sink faster than you might think on that light line. Even the 1/15 oz. will get down there in a reasonable amount of time. I've fished both that deep at Bull Shoals, and it was definitely not a tedious presentation to me; but I'm not the stereotypical "power-fisherman" who losses his mind if he isn't cranking every second. 1 Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted July 1, 2015 Super User Posted July 1, 2015 Finesse ShroomZ jighead 1/10th oz. with TRD or 1/2 a ZinkerZ. Quote
rangerjockey Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I throw the 1/8 oz that deep on Table Rock all the time... It does take it awhile to the bottom but it also gets bit on the fall a lot. I'd throw it any where you would a shaky head. I use either 20lb. braid with a 6lb. leader or straight 6lb. invisx. Quote
