When Your Baitacaster "squeals?"

Have an Abu Revo SX that I really like, almost new.  Casts very smooth...except when I really bomb a cast.  It squeals a bit the first couple seconds.  Is this an adjustment issue?   Its new so I can't imagine its a lubrication issue.  ...thoughts?

Everyone jumps right to spool bearing when these symptoms pop up but that's actually rarely the cause. Reels are often over or under lubricated from the factory. Start by pulling the spool and putting a very fine film of oil on the spool shaft end that faces the cranking side. You can do the same to the rim of the spool if you want. As a last resort add a drop of oil to th bearing on the spool and in the left side plate.

Once in a great while my gen stx will do that

i just take the spool out, clean the areas near the spool and apply a very thin coat of oil...i usually have to do that once or twice a season

Brake race. Been there. Just make sure the round face that your brakes run on is clean and has a very light coat of oil on it (wiped on with a q tip works great).

I had a Shimano Chronarch MG50 that did the same thing.  Sent it back to the factory, got it back with new bearings and exactly the same thing, first cast.  Lightly lubricated the friction brake ring with oil and it disappeared.
