Shane_ Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 What is your favorite hook for a wacky rigged worm? Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 28, 2015 Super User Posted June 28, 2015 I don´t know if they are "THE BEST" but I won´t change my Owner Mutu Light hooks for anything in the world, they are absolutely fantastic. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted June 28, 2015 Super User Posted June 28, 2015 As a poster once said, ( Raul ) sharp ones.. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted June 28, 2015 Super User Posted June 28, 2015 I use gamakatsu finesse wide gap in size 1-1/0. 1 Quote
jdw174 Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Owner Wacky Hooks. Sharp little buggers they are. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted June 28, 2015 Super User Posted June 28, 2015 I use two different styles, depending on what kind of water I'm fishing. Fishing tight to cover (weeds or wood) and/or fishing shallow water conditions, I favor a Gamakatsu Wacky Weedless hook with a black filament hook guard. If I'm fishing more open water, then for me, there is only one option. The Gamakatsu INLINE Oct. Circle hook in 1/0 size. I've used this circle hook for many years now and it has never failed me. Consistently hooks in the corner of the mouth. Strong enough so that even a 5+# jumping, crazy, hooked jawed salmon, can't bend or deform this hook. Quote
LittleBob Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I recently got turned on to OMTD weedless wacky hooks size 1 and absolutely love them Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted June 29, 2015 Super User Posted June 29, 2015 i have some owner wacky hooks size 1, and they work well Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 29, 2015 Super User Posted June 29, 2015 When I fish a wacky rig senko, currently my hook of choice is a Falcon weighted weedless K-wacky hook. I use their 3/0 size weighted 1/16 oz. In the never ending discussion over heat shrink tubing or o-rings, I use o-rings, primarily because several years ago I bought a thousand of them at a penny a piece and I haven't run out yet. Quote
BW208 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Gamakatsu Weedless Drop shot 1/0 works well but I want to try the wacky weedless ones. Quote
desmobob Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I like the Owner Weedless Wacky Hooks in 1/0, but recently have tried and liked the Decoy Cover Finesse HD Worm 220... and they're a bit cheaper. These two hooks use mono stubs for a weed guard. They do tend to get stuck on wood sometimes, but do well in the weeds and hook most all of the fish that take them. I used the VMC weedless wacky hooks with the wire loop weed guard for a time. They rarely got hung up but I lost a LOT of fish on them. Tight lines, Bob Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 30, 2015 Super User Posted June 30, 2015 Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse from 1-3/0 Gamakatsu Drop shot/Split shot from 4-2/0 I tie my own weedless hooks, which is much easier on the larger hooks. The drop/split hooks are fine wire, penetrate the mouth easily. The Wide Gap hooks are a bit more stout and very strong. I've used Owner, BPS, etc. The only thing I didn't like about Owner was the "beak" of the hook tip....but they're fine hooks otherwise. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 30, 2015 Super User Posted June 30, 2015 In the waters I fish there's very little open water so a "weedless" hook is mandatory. There's no best wacky worm hook, but I use a 'Gamakatsu 1/0 Finesse Wide-Gap Weedless Hook' (2309) Roger Quote

I've also lost a lot of fish on em. Plus the wire guards get mangled and hard to reposition. No idea why they get so much shelf space in Dick's Sporting Goods but it ain't because of their effectiveness. Quote
OCdockskipper Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Another vote for Owners Wacky hooks, both regular & weedless model. Quote
primetime Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Circle hooks if possible. No gut hooks, less line breaks, Owner Mosquito maybe? Or I add my own light weed guard to a Live Bait hook. Quote

boostr Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I either use the VMC 1/0 Octo hook, VMC weighted Whacky hooks, or the VMC weedless Whacky hook. On the weedless Hook I cut the bend of the wire that goes under the barb off. Makes a wire V weed guard, and it still doesn't get hung much... but nothing has bit it either. Quote
