I have fished alot of topwater baits, and I fish topwater lures with braided line.  I started fishing a Devils Horse, and my braid always ends up wrapping around the front propeller.  Anyone got any tips or tricks that would help eliminate that problem?  Thank you!

Use a leader, or straight mono.

Or some wax on the first few feet of your braid.

If you choose to fish straight braid with a prop bait that's going to be a way of life you're going to have to live with. Just like if you try to fish walking baits with straight braid, your hooks are going to end up tangled in the line a lot of the time.

I have noticed that with these lures, they are hit or miss out of the box. Meaning they need just a minor tune, or can be almost worthless as far as a true running bait. I just wanted to share that, because I have had a few that I had to totally remount the hardware to to make useful.

I agree with the above, and I throw mine on mono because it also floats.

The hooks on them are pure garbage also. I took one straight from the pack and four fish latter all the hook welds had separated. Brian

This^^^^ I found a way a long time ago that worked but when I got tired of braid the tip became useless for me. When you go for coffee in the convenience store, grab some coffee stirrers, and cut them in inch, inch and a half long pieces and put a piece on the line first, then tie on your lure, what this does is it stiffens the area of the line that ends up wrapped in the hook or prop, it will save you some frustration. I opt for mono and fishing prop baits is a good way to get a big fish, for some reason they draw bigger than average fish like a buzzbait does.

Easy fix: Just go buy yourself some cheap Berkley Big Game mono in 15#. If you have another reel that's empty or low on line (I use ABU 5000 reels because of their massive line capacity)  reel the braid onto it. Then spool the reel with the cheap mono. This line is good enough to get you by a day and plenty strong. It's what I use for topwaters. Just check the line after each fish you catch. Retie as needed. If you don't, it will eventually cost you a good fish and your lure. We've all done it.

Or you can just use a short leader of mono. I've tried this before but can't stand feeling the knot go thru the guides.

Change your knot and use a drop of super glue.

Using braid coat the first 3' with fly line dressing and fish it like a top water jerk bait. If it continues to foul the front treble hook, cut off the forward hook leaving a double hook.

The line tangles around the PROP!!!!!

Not always the problem, if I read the OP's question it was. There is a BR video on how to fish a Smithwick Devil's horse.

Smithwick Devil's Horse is thought of as a double prop bait, however there are several single rear prop models; Ma and Pa Scooters and my favorite Buck N Brawl vintage wooden lures that I use often early summer.

If it's a line tangling the prop issue, then tie directly to lure using a tight clinching knot, not clip or loop style knots.
