Super User A-Jay Posted June 27, 2015 Super User Posted June 27, 2015 . If I'm reading this correctly, I am not in a management position. I'm just a working stiff like the rest of them. Sorry Bud, I thought you had gotten a new position. I'll be fading away now . . . . . . A-Jay 1 Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 27, 2015 Super User Posted June 27, 2015 We are reading about some activity in the workplace stated by 1 person. I'd like to read about the events told from a different person's perspective. Would the saga be told the same way on a ladies knitting forum in their every thing else section? Wanting more than 1 light in a room is anything but a whine, but a desire for nicer working conditions. Cutting wires a prank, no that would have been vandalism. Taking the time then causing the expense of unscrewing 48 fluorescent bulbs, is an act of sheer stupidity. Certainly not funny if you're the one paying the bill. I do agree about whining, but I don't see the women as being the main whiners. You can research any newsworthy organization and the numbers indicate women get paid 72-81% of men's wages. Some jobs do offer the same wage, however it's much less likely that they get hired, they have to take jobs that pay less. The days of women having a baby like dropping a deuce on the bank, then going back into the rice paddies is over. I support the time afforded to them. From feeling ill during pregnancy, to the pain of child birth, to getting their bodies back in shape, not to acknowledge and sympathize is another form of disrespect. Men don't understand pregnancy, pms or child birth, they don't experience it. Heck they've done the hard work all you have to do is teach little Johnny to throw a B/C. High divorce rate, the more reading I do the more I understand. That being so many of these women in the workplace are single mothers, women generally get custody of the children. Yeh some of them got one tough job, I'd be cutting them some slack not hindering them. I sense as much about fearing women as I do in treating them as second citizens. Quote

Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 27, 2015 Super User Posted June 27, 2015 We were by ourselves tucked away in the corner of the building, away from the general population, until a couple weeks ago. Due to overwhelming growth of the company, and limited space, the higher ups moved the billing team in with the tradesmen. It's been a bit of a rough ride with me having to watch what I say. The other hvac guy is a bit like me in the fact he really doesn't give a crap on what other people think. These whiny women have decided they need every light in the room on. We were just fine with 1 light and the sunlight coming thru the windows. Well, the other hvac guy was so fed up yesterday he said he's going to cut the wires. He gets in early this morning and unscrewed 48 fluorescent bulbs in the light fixtures. No one says a word until the office gopher comes in and hits the switch. Nothing.... He flips it on and off a few times and gets on the phone to the building engineer. 3 stationary engineers couldn't figure out what was wrong so they called an electrician. Took him about 15 minutes. Well the queen of the whiners went immediately to her boss. As she walked out the door, she says "Someone is going to be in trouble". Her boss actually thought it was hilarious. The higher ups found out thru the building engineers and they're ticked. The building is charging them for the service call. I need more ideas for office pranks. Help a cripple out You realize light bulb twisting is electrician work. Pipe fighters and HVAC Mechanics ain qualified for that kind of work. You still wanna mess with them. Go disconnect the thermostats in the office. Then see how long it takes them to figure it out. Quote

Funny thing is, the A/C went down in the server room a month or so ago. The boss asked the hvac guys to look at it. The lights go out, they didn't ask our electrician. There's cameras all over the office "for our protection" I won't be disconnecting thermostats. I did see they make a remote controlled rat. That would be priceless above the ceiling grid. 3 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 27, 2015 Author Super User Posted June 27, 2015 That last line is the most ironic thing you have ever written. It's Raideresqe. I'm actually quite charming. no matter what anyone else believes. The older I get the less patience I have for other peoples BS. I've worked alone for 25 years. I have a plan in place where I hope to be able to get back to this over the next few years which begins with another shoulder surgery later this year. Snook, There are plenty of males at my work who have the same mentality as some of these women. It seems most are more apt to take a joke or some ribbing. Quote
curtis9 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Crazy that the people in billing having to work on a computer and read papers all day want to work in a well lit environment. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted June 27, 2015 Super User Posted June 27, 2015 What I find amazing is how so many ppl here know how well the room is lit. Ever been there? Or work in a high rise? Or build one? Quote
curtis9 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 It's unlikely that the windows are positioned adequately to provide sufficient sunlight throughout the day for a proper work environment. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 27, 2015 Super User Posted June 27, 2015 It's unlikely that the windows are positioned adequately to provide sufficient sunlight throughout the day for a proper work environment. That would depend on the layout and age of the building. As well as the floor said office is located on. There are many other factors that come into play as well. It very well may be quite well lit by sunlight and minimal lighting. Quote
curtis9 Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 It's unlikely there is sufficient sunlight throughour the day and the year. There may be times during the day where there is sufficient lighting for portions of the office, but it is nearly impossible that the entire office is well lit by sunlight all day. Quote

Walk in a machine or a welding shop one day. You would swear welders and machinist are vampires. Try reading a mic in a dark shop. While trying to maintain a .001 accuracy. Just a FYI. South and west view is all windows on the 28th floor of a 100 story building. There's plenty of light Quote
craww Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Get ahold of one of the remote controled, robotic predator decoys. Put it above the ceiling tiles early one morning over the cubicle bays. Start slow and work in more action/noise as you go. * tip- if there is a "bobcat in heat" sound file, thats the one you want 1 Quote

Sidebar: When I was into coyote hunting one of the calls featured puppies. I was caught sneaking the family dog (small mix breed) out to use as a decoy! That went over like a fart in a diving helmet. 2 Quote
