Hey guys,  I am new to the bass fishing world and have a few questions.  First of all, it seems like i never catch a bass with my lures, or even get a nibble.  I have searched various sites and have used spinnerbaits, frogs, crankbait, and stickbait to catch bass.  It might be my beginner technique, but something seems to be wrong.  I have even seen a bass and my lure will swim right in front of the bass, only to spook it.  Any comments, answers? anything helps !

There is no single answer to not getting bit.  I read everything I can get my hands on.  There are plenty of forums here packed full of tips and tricks, instructions from pros and experienced bass anglers.  I have satellite TV and I watch the fishing shows. Then I go out to my bass spot and practice, practice, practice.

Believe me... the thrill of that first catch is worth the effort!

Try a weightless creature bait like a baby brush hawg or a 6" lizard.  Cast it out and wait.  Most of the time you will get bit on the fall like a stick bait.  Then if no luck slowly drag it back and repeat.  When I say drag I mean slowly with the rod not reeling in.  Make lots of pauses.

If you can see the bass the bass can probably see you and is spooked.

Scale down with the size of your baits.

Go with the "Shaky Head" technique using a Junebug Zoom trick worm on a 1/8 ounce/3/0 hook jig head on spinning rig.

Throw it out. Let it sit. Then shake the rod tip and start your retrieve very slowly, letting the bait sit after each move of your rod tip.

Fish slower.  Be patient.

Welcome to the forums. I can understand your frustration. Many will be able to help you if you provided us with a little bit more info. For example, what state you are fishing from, and more less what part of that state? Other examples that could help is the type of outfit you are using, the type of cover you mainly fish etc. Other than that, the only advice I can provide you for now, is get to know the this site well. Take advantage of the videos and numerous articles that are provided to you. Lastly, go and apply those techniques by fishing often. Good luck.
