I own an older, well beat up aluminum canoe that now has a tiny pin hole in the hull.  I plan to duct tape the hole on the inside as a backing and rub a little J-B Weld on the outside of the hole.  Who can offer a better plan to fix the pin hole?  Thanks

Have any friends with a tig welder?   Perhaps find a local muffler shop or something they should be able to put a bead on it and then you can grind it down smooth.

I don't know what a tig welder is...  I'm not even looking to have it smooth, this canoe already has the snot beat out of it!

I think there are better epoxies for aluminum, Marine Tex is one,  but for a small repair, it will probably hold just fine.  Clean it good and scuff it good with 60 grit before you apply any of them.

They also make a repair cement that comes like a stick, that you melt onto the spot that's made especially for aluminum repair.  I have a couple of places I have fixed years ago and still holding strong.

you can get a hand rivet gun and rivets from harbor freight for $15-$25. Use some marine grade silicone with the rivet for a clean watertight repair.

JB Weld makes a product just for aluminum. I used some on my old johnboat and it fixed a much more serious tear than what it sounds like you're dealing with and never leaked at all.
