Hi Folks,

I have a reel handle with bushings measuring 5mm ID x 7mm OD x 2mm thick.

Can't find any bearings that fit.  Any help?

Thanks,

Josh

afaik, there is no such thing. in fact, i've been looking for 5x7x2.5 bearings for a long time as that would allow me to put shimano and daiwa knobs onto my lews handles.

what reel do you have? my shimanos and daiwas all use 4x7x2.5s under the knobs while my lews/revos use 5x8x2.5s.

Hello,

It's an Ambassadeur Kalex handle.  I usually run bent handles on my modern round reels (mostly modified 5500c3 reels) but this one only felt right with a straight handle due to the rod it's on.  I wanted a bit of extra reach.

The bent handles I prefer are those ones with the ribbed knobs that come on Johnny Morris reels and the like.  They upgrade easily.  If I could find a straight version, I'd love it!

The Kalex seems to be an odd duck and so I wasn't too hopeful.  Plastic bushings aren't exactly bad; they beat most stock reel handles we had back in the '80s and '90s.  Just that everything else on that reel is bearing driven and I'd like to match it up is all.

Regards,

josh, my guess is that the 2mm difference between the 7mm outside diameter and the 5mm inside diameter is just too skinny to fit a raceway and ball bearings into.

fisher-o-men, i see what you did there  :wink3:

Ive never been able to or wasnt aware the lews knobs come off the handles, all my lews but one i havent checked looks lime the knobs dont come off, theres no little screws under the end caps lime on abu's revos, max and other series..wish they would, not a fan of the paddles either..

If anyone would have them it would be Boca. But I've never heard of them before. I buy my ceramic bearings for the inside of my reels there and I think those are the bearings that will do you the most good.
