Fished 2 local neighborhood ponds tonight and the bluegills would not leave my bait alone.

Texas rigged a Rage Craw with a pegged bullet weight.

Anyway, after the 2nd cast a big mean bluegill tore one of the arms off my Rage craw!

As I was about to pull the bait off and get a new one, I thought to myself...  self, don't some crawdads only have 1 pincher?

Sure they do!   So, I kept it on and caught ten, yes 10, 1 - 3 pound largemouth bass in about 2 hours.

so, if you loose a pincher, don't fret...  cast it and keep fishing!

I hear ya...I use rage craws as jig trailers and catch just as many with one leg as i do with two....only switch out when I'm out off appendages! The biggest fish I caught this weekend, 19in pig shaped like a football, I was down to one leg.

I bet that craw was doing some funky stuff. Different can be good, especially in pressured water. And those gills are feisty, I have seen plenty take on my big creature baits.

Berkley did a study awhile back and plastic craws with zero appendages got the most bites. One appendage came in second and 2 appendages got the least. Interesting...

I beleive it! Funny story I took my twin brother fishjng at my local lake and he was using a berkley 4 inch shad with a top hook he got it caught in a tree and ripped it in half a little after the hook. He didn't tie a new one just casted it back out and bam! Lands a solid 5lber! I was dumbfounded as I haven't even caught a five outa there!

Bluegill love to do this to me on my Pit Bosses. Some days, they're too valuable to be thrown away after they lose an arm or two (Pit Boss has 4 arms). Just keep throwing them.

Hmm. I may have to rethink my practice of taking the amputee off and saving it for transplants later with mend it glue.

I've always wished for something like that to happen. I usually use a Big Bite Baits Fightin' Frog as a pitch/flip type bait, but in the few years I've used them I've only caught 1 fish on one once one of the arms is gone. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but I've been catching them with 2 pinchers on had one bit off and fished it for the the next 20 minutes or so without a hit. Finally give in and change it out for a new one and bam! Maybe it's just the Fightin' Frog doesn't look right to them with only one. I might have to try it with a different bait.

I've removed the claws before , usually when I'm not anythng . Dont know if it helped any . I have some Riverside Big Claws that I usually remove the pincers because they are pretty large .
