Allen Der Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Anyone have experience with this reel? Seems to have good but few reviews on most sites. I just ordered one from BPS for a backup/loaner rod. Going to be paired with a Fenwick Silverhawk 6'6" M rod. Most of my other reels are Abu Revos, but was looking to save a little money. Got it for $80 after a $20 off coupon and there is also another $20 MIR. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 24, 2015 Super User Posted June 24, 2015 Good solid reel. Definitely one of the best bang for the buck reels out there. Quote
Allen Der Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Good solid reel. Definitely one of the best bang for the buck reels out there. I handled one in the store and it seemed very smooth and solid compared to the Abu Orra SX which goes for the same price Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted June 25, 2015 Super User Posted June 25, 2015 I had an older one when it was the flagship reel that I gave to a friend and it still works like new. I also have a newer one but in the XT model and I'll be honest, it is very hard to beat that reel in the price point, I honestly believe they could sell the XT version for $200 and it would still be a good deal. The regular supreme has some minor differences but the guts and frame are the same and based on my experience with the XT, I'd guess that regular model is going to be a decent reel. Quote
junyer357 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I think part of why you are seeing few reveiws on it now is they just updated the design for this year and changed the model #. The older ones are held in pretty high regard, especially at their price point. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted June 25, 2015 Super User Posted June 25, 2015 Never used a Supreme, but owned 2 Trions (still have one) and 2 Patriarch XTs...the older blue ones. I feel like Pflueger reels don't get the respect they deserve. Remaining Trion is on a 6'10" HF and spooled with 17# mono. It is a casting machine with that set up. Don't use it a lot as a Heavy rod doesn't see much use locally, but this reel hasn't backlashed since moving it to this rod and spooling on heavier line. I've use an XT to throw 10" ribbontails worms on a 3/0 hook (no additional weight). It does an excellent job on a MHF rod even though the weight is probably less than 3/8 oz. Quote
stkbassn Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Very good little reel. I've had good experiences with all of the Pflueger reels I've owned. Summit, President, Supreme, Patriarch...all good. Quote
