I had a really good spring catching good numbers of fish and pattering them every time I went out . Then my family went on a two week vacation. Now that we are back I can't seem to get on any fish . I have fished deep and shallow , thrown the kitchen sink at them but to no avail. I am finding groups of fish , but they just don't want to eat anything. Anybody else having the same problems or am I just forcing things to much. I have been fishing northern indiana a lot , I don't know if the fish are just in a funk or what.

I fished Indiana in a regional tournament once. It took me 3 days to catch 4 fish, you have my condolences.

I am in southern Indiana, and fishing has been pretty tough this year for me as well.  I grew up in Kentucky, fishing cave run, Cumberland and subsequent rivers.  It seems that I have had to tune my game differently since moving to Indiana.  I don't know, I am not gods gift to fishing but Id like to think Im fairly observant, and I cant figure them out?

All this rain has bass doing funny things.

I went fishing yesterday as I got done at the shop early, and I had an old gentleman come by asking if I had seen any bluegill nests yet.

I told him that they had been here and gone already.  I'd had a thread up and just can't find it now!  It had pics.

Things are "off" this year.

I have been finding bass in shallow weeds near shore.  Slow down and use jigs with craw trailers.

I fish a local park where they just sprayed the entire thing with copper sulfate... Last year there was an abundant amount of plant life that grew along the banks where bass can hide, but now there's nothing.  :dazed-7:

Lots of variables, and our weather hasn't been the best this month, but the fish still have to eat. On the northern natural lakes, lots of times the bass will actually bury in the weeds this time of year. They're moving out to the deep weedline, but seem to hang in the thick of things for a while while recovering from spawning. Also check out large main lake flats on cloudy, windy days for activity. Down south in our reservoirs, lots of bass feeding on craws in the rocks right now. High, murky water from all the rain has the fish shallow more so than normal. Bite has been good though.

I finally caught a few today , really had to slow down and fish a tube in 15 to 20 fow along the deep crass edges , nothing big but some nice legal fish , still not the numbers I would like but it felt good to feel something on the end of the line . Indiana is super tough , josh I fished cumberland a ton for many years it's very different than anywhere in indiana.

I live and fish in Indiana and I agree, it can be tough. A lot of bucket fishermen around here and lots of pressure in the central part where I live because there are so few lakes. The IDNR do not seem to be interested in bass at all, the same thing over and over, Walleye and crappie. Thats all they stock or care about. I have caught some fish this year, but nothing very big, 15 inch the biggest. I dont get to fish very much, maybe 3 times a month, job and other responsibilitys just wont allow any more, that does not help. Still waiting for that trip of a lifetime, just hope some one is there to share it with me.

Indiana bass fishing is fairly poor. Always has been, that's why I go to Kentucky or Florida for great fishing.. These republican fish are stuck up, lol..

Indiana surly has big fish swimming in its lakes and rivers, just not as many as other places in the country , if you look at BFL regional stats the Hoosier division is last . It's just a hard place to fish , not saying it is impossible but it is for sure tough. My best this year is a 5lb largemouth , great fish in indiana , not really anything to get excited about in other places in the country.

I miss fishing southern lakes, however Cole it has been a very good learning experience to fish southern/central Indiana lakes.

IN resident here and so far Ive had a GREAT year fishing.  The key for me has been to stay off the major lakes and reservoirs. Google maps is your friend!  Some private lakes have been ridiculous this year, football shaped smallmouth ridiculous.  There are some serious rural lakes in the northern third of the state holding big bass that aren't pressured.  Again, utilize google maps to find new bodies of water, look for a boat ramp, and make it happen!

well, big bass love senkos, 'PRIVATE" is the key word in private pond. There are a few around here but they are no trespassing at all, to many idiots who leave trash, start fires and have no respect for someone else property. If you dont have permission to fish these un-pressured ponds then you have no other choice but to fish the reservoirs and public lakes.  Fishing small fish filled un pressured ponds and small lakes is like shooting fish in a barrel.  May as well go to the local fair and use the traveling fish tank that the kids pay a dollar to fish in.

I sometimes take for granted that I live on a private 200 acre lake where the bass fishing is decent.  Most of my time fishing however is spent on public places I find on maps. As long as there's a ramp and no indications of private property I will launch.  Northern IN is a gold mine as these types of locations are plentiful.  I even ventured south this past weekend to lake lemon and was wearing em out with senkos.
