I'm looking into getting another spinning reel something small like a 1000. I currently have a shimano sahara 2500 and was wondering would it be worth it to sell that and get 2 Pflueger presidents? I do love that sahara though.

Thoughts guys?

If you love the Sahara then I would say no.  The president can be had for relatively little $$.  If your interested, my advice would be to just add it to your collection.  Rather than removing a reel that you love.

Keep the Sahara. Buy the Prezzie. Shoot the hostages. Get back to the lip rippage.

In my opinion none of the current model shimanos under the stradic are as good as the pflueger president. The stradicfj is a great reel if you get a good one but I've had problems with a few of them right out of the box.

If you sell a Sahara you would be lucky to get $60 shipped. The money gained would only buy you one president unless you were buying them used. The president is one of the best budget spinning reels out there. I would say you would probably be best adding a president to the Sahara. Fish both for a while and see which you prefer. I have a very small president that has caught me lots of freshwater gamefish and it still works just fine.

Shimano shines from the Saros on up from my own findings. I have a Sedona, Sahara, Symetre, Saros, and a handful of Stradic models.

Why would you want to downgrade?

New Daiwa Lexa - at least compare the features to Shimano and Phflueger in this price range ...

No point in selling a reel that you like, an addition is something else.  For a small reel used primarily for panfish either brand is fine, there is no appreciable gain in performance or durability.

A prez is about 60 bucks and sahara about 80 I think, how could 2 presidents be bought from the sale of 1 used sahara.

Keep the Sahara, and get another Sahara. I know many guys on here love their Pfluegers, but my Dad and his buddy both have terrible line twist problems with their Pfluegers.

I do not have a lot of experience with the Pflueger Presidents - yet. I've been a Shimano fan for many, many years. However, as of late, they've increased in cost about $20.00 across the board for the Sahara & Symetres. I love both of those reels, but I picked up a President (6920) last year and used it for a full season on my 9' B n' M rod for panfish. Great little reel. I do not see any reason why I would pay more for a Shimano from this point on.

Keep the Sahara and get a 25 size Pfluegar Trion.

If you were talking the Supreme then it would be different. I'm sorry but I think in order to really get a good Shimano spinning reel, it begins at the Stradic. I have told others before that the only reels I ever had fail from any company was 2 Shimano Symetres and the CS told me I should have purchased the better reels, $100 and I get a bad reel doesn't fly with me. I do recognize Shiman makes awesome reels, no doubt but I have used a lot of tackle, being in a club for a long time allowed me to sample a lot of stuff and there are some things that I feel comfortable with. One of those thing is saying that after using my Pflueger Supreme for the last few months that in order to get a reel on equal ground in the Shimano line up you would have to get a Stradic, the Saros is a good performer but the 2500 is more than 2 ounces heavier than the 30 size Pflueger. Now, if you plan on going high end, like a Sustain or Stella, there is no getting better, but Shimano has nothing in the $100 to $150 range than can compete with a Pflueger Supreme, but that is because there focus is on the higher end Stradic and Stradic Ci4+.
