Super User Jig Man Posted May 26, 2009 Super User Posted May 26, 2009 A quart will make a bunch of flukes. It is not the cost of the plastic that will get into your pocket. You have to also have molds, color, glitter, means of melting. The start up can be costly. If you get in and stay in and make different kinds of baits then the cost will go down. Quote

Jigman is absolutely correct. The start up is a little salty. For an example you can get about 350-400 senko type baits in a gallon. It depends also on what your mixture is. 4 oz of plastic, 2 oz of salt, 1 oz of softner. For flukes you will not need that much salt. That is just an example. www.bearsbaits.com Check out that link for most of your supplies. He also has a forum where you can ask questions and get tips. www.tackleunderground.com is another forum that has a ton of info. I started out wanting to make senkos. 5 years later I can make anything from senkos, beavers, curl tail worms, finesse worms and brush hogs. You can also make your own molds to save some green. Good luck with your adventure. Z Quote

zbass Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Yep, it is a very well designed pot. If you have the money I would suggest getting one with the stirring system. It can be used without it, but it is much more efficient with it. You can pour as little as 4oz or 1 gal of plastic with that pot at one time. Quote
