eaglefly11 Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I'm looking to do some fishing on the false River. I fish this lake at least twice didn't catch anything, but one Catfish. I just finished doing the research on False River and found that it was a very popular Lake at one time, but has some issues that are now being corrected. Everything I've read as far as reports is two to the three years old and I found nothing current about false River. Can anyone give me any information as to what will be the best way to bass fish false River? Are there any water hazards because as I looked at the oxbow lake. It seems to be 40 to 60 feet deep, but the last time I fished it even in the middle. My shallow water alarm went off and it was set to 6 ft. so are there hazards in the middle of the lake or is it possibly grass growing that high. Any advice on False River will be greatly appreciated.thanks in advance. Quote
Jon burrows Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 No water hazards for the exception of the piers...both ends of the river are called FLATS...both ends USE to have grass and are not very deep...most people fish the piers with Crankbaits...and Rattletraps in the flats over the grass if you can find some... look for piers that DO NOT have swimming gear...most people sink their Xmas trees in front of them to attack bream...the river was once a slot limit big bass lake UNTIL they killed all the grass to benefit the out of town campers on what's called the Island side opposite from the town of New Roads...false river was once the Mississippi River but I'm sure you knew that...wish I could help you more but I avoid the river since they killed most of the grass...
