I don't want micro guides for this rod so I'm looking at a Macro Pro Model number:  DFMA66MH-C or DFMA69MH-C

This rod has to be a bit versatile. I want to use it for 1/4-1/2 oz baits. examples would be: Spinner baits, Square bills, Finesse jigs and plastics.

I have no idea what the action is like on this rod. I have my concerns based on opinions I've read about Duckett's (soft) over weight rated blanks..Duckett does not mention rod tip action at all?

I want a rod with some back bone and a fast tip.

Advice will be much appreciated.

I don't believe they make the Macro Magic Rods any more but they kinda made the Terrex the new alternative. I have both Macro Magics and Terrex and the Terrex seems to have more back bone with a soft tip. I have the Rojas frog model 7' MH and it is a great frog rod but also a good spinnerbait/chatterbait rod. Hope that helps.

No Duckett owners to the rescue?

I have two of the original Duckett MicroMagic rods in MH actions.  One is the 6'8" and the other is the 7'3" version.  Both of my rods feel under powered for what I think a MH should be, and don't think that the shorter rod is the best choice for anything over 3/8oz.  I am currently using my 6'8" for small t-rigs, 1/8oz to 3/8oz bullet weights and a trick worm.

Overall I really like the rod, but for the higher end of your range I don't think it's the best choice.

Sorry I've been awol for a little while for fathers day and some other things. I know a great deal about Duckett rods and the one's you have mentioned are not going to be what you are looking for. The rod you would want would be a Duckett Terex 7'0" Medium heavy or Terex 7'3 Medium heavy. I know people think the Terex is the exact same as the Macro Magic but in truth it is not.

Great, thanks for letting me know. Max length I want is 6'6" for this rod.

Duckett doesn't have a Terex 6'6" that would work for what you are wanting so I if I was you I would look at some other brands. I hope this helped. Good luck.
