heathen Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I just completed building my new Jerkbait Rod. Its a St Croix 5C66MHF blank cut down to 6'3". Graphite Handle, Pac Bay Split reel seat, AmTak Titan guides, Fuji Titanium Tip, Spiral Wrapped. Nothing to special, stealth wrapped guides with gold trim. I am not into the real "flashy" side, I tend to build everything stealth. Here is a couple pics: Quote

rubba bubba Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Very sharp - the wraps are super clean and the rod finish is excellent (very even; very nice). I commend you on getting a reel with the handle on the correct side. Quote
Super User flechero Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 I commend you on getting a reel with the handle on the correct side. Only if he took the picture in a mirror, is the reel handle is correct! Quote
michaelkim_9582 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 how much did the rod cost you? Just wondering because I'm trying to get into building split grip rods myself Quote
Super User .RM. Posted May 13, 2009 Super User Posted May 13, 2009 Stinky, Why the 5C blank? I have wrapped a couple of the 4C blanks for jigs and worm because the client wanted sensitivity, but a jerk bait rod is throwing reactionary baits no need to be so lite and brittle... Any way another good looking stick.... Tight Lines!!!! Quote
heathen Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Reel Mech, There was a local shop near me, who sold rodbuilding supplies and they had a going out of buisness sale and I picked it up at a very good price, so I opted to build it on that. If it wasnt for that, I would have built it on the 3c. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted May 13, 2009 Super User Posted May 13, 2009 Stinky, I C....Great job on the build... Be careful I have had the really high end blanks and split seats fail on me (very brittle). Tight Lines!!!! Quote
heathen Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 Thanks, Yeah I am kind of worried about that too. Always wanted to try the split seat, and after fishing it for a week on Erie, I am not sure I really like the split seat, atleast on a jerkbait rod. This might become my new Tube Rod. Quote
