Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 19, 2015 Super User Posted June 19, 2015 Enjoyed watching it yesterday, that course is awesome and I've never seen anything like it. Fox was a big disappointment in my eyes. The broadcasters were weak and boring, not that they didn't know their stuff but they lacked golf broadcasting skills and polish. Like him or not Johnny Miller IMO is one of the best color commentators, Gregg Norman didn't come close with his analysis. Joe Buck was equally as poor in the anchor. They could have done a better job with the graphics too, using the shot tracker more than I normally see was a nice touch. 1 Quote

I'm still not sold on fairways and greens that look like they are suffering from some dreadful disease, but it does look like a challenging layout. Fox Sports? All I can say is pitiful. Of course, there is also the train wreck of a game Tiger Woods has been putting together lately. I've never seen such a collapse and it is starting to look like nothing is going to turn it around. The swing mechanics are completely FUBAR, and I don't think its physical at this point. Quote

Like going on the water and nailing a big lady on every cast while making it look easy. Come on Rory Mcllroy! You got to like the guy. What a breath of fresh air in a "stuck up" sport. Quote

I don't know if it's physical, mental or what, but he has lost his swing and confidence. Was interesting to watch his wedge go further than the ball though... Quote

Tom Terrific's explanation of the course made a lot of sense. Once I became aware of all the elevation changes, the greens, I could see the lack of US Open type rough wasn't needed to make this a tough track. Hate to walk it especially carrying my bag. Any man that has won 14 majors, many World Golf Champion events and about 80 tournaments in total knows exactly what he's doing wrong. The man knows how to play golf, he's too stubborn to play, thinks tinkering with his swing is the answer. Blind man can see his problem, he over swings wanting that power, each time it's a push to the right or pull to the left. All he has to do is play within himself, just too stubborn to do it. Hate to say it but unless he comes to his senses, he's done. Quote

Kudos to Mr. Spieth for a great run in the majors, but without a doubt, Jason Day earned a ton of my respect to play the way he did suffering with vertigo. If I was Dustin Johnson, I don't think I would have slept very well last night or for the next week or two for that matter. 2 Quote

I was really pulling for Jason Day, he's a tough competitor and will win a major one day. The lowest point was Fox, I thought they were terrible. Having 4 people in the booth was overkill that IMO didn't work, they spent more time talking between them than analyzing. Corey Pavin did an admirable job. The course was great, the USGA took the crowd out of it, too far from the action. Didn't much care flip flopping #18 as both a par 4 and par 5. Quote

In fact, it doesn't matter if they call a hole a par one or a par ten, the only thing that matters at the end of the day is the total number of strokes made by a golfer without regard to what is "par for the course". 1 Quote

I agree. In an event like this, you aren't playing against the course, but the others competitors out there. No real need to go off of "par". Count strokes and go. Quote
