Nstd Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I'm looking for a deep cranking reel. I currently own daiwas and shimanos. My budget is under $100 and I narrowed it down to these three (still open to other suggestions). Daiwa Lexa $69 Pfleuger Supreme $99 BSP ProQ $99 Which one? Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 Daiwa Lexa without thinking it too much, no matter how much you pay for it is still a 130 dollars reel Quote
Nstd Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Daiwa Lexa without thinking it too much, no matter how much you pay for it is still a 130 dollars reel Thanks Raul. You would suggest a Lexa then? Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 They make a PQ in a 4.9. That would be a good recommendation. Does the supreme come in a low gearing? I'd recommend the Supreme before the PQ, but id recommend a low gearing on either Quote
Dan_the_fisher Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Check out eBay!!! I bought a couple shimano curado I new in box for 110, and they are amazing reels. The 5.5:1 I bought for crankbaits has amazing power Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 Thanks Raul. You would suggest a Lexa then? Shure, I suggest a Lexa, Daiwas are wonderful reels. Quote
BobP Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I see Ebay has a bunch of new Daiwa Tatulas for sale at $98. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 Staying under $100, my personal choice...in order...would be as you listed, except I would put a 5.4:1 Tatula first, then the other three. You should be able to find a Tatula under the $100 limit on fleabay. Although I am not a one brand guy, I am partial to Daiwa reels. Love my Curado 51Es, but if I had to chose I'd keep my Alphas reels. I have several Daiwa models, but none are a Lexa. However, it would be my first choice of the 3 you listed simply because I am so familiar with Daiwa reels and its original price is more than either of the other 2 reels. Which in theory should make it a better reel given what everyone always says "You get what you pay for." Quote
ibobpeb Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I prefer a Lew's BB1 over all those reels. Its lighter than all of them, smoother, and casts farther. I personally have the BB1L 5.1:1 left handed version. Got mine off eBay for $99 new. I also have the Abu Garcia Orro Winch and it's awesome as well. Can be had for $84 new. These were made for crankbaits but I use them for swimbaiting and they're perfect. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 I would buy a Tatula 100P off of Ebay for $99. From your list I would get the Lexa. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Orra Winch at Walmart.com for $65 if your right handed. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted June 18, 2015 Super User Posted June 18, 2015 Get the Tatula 5.4:1 on ebay for $100. The BPS PQ 5.2:1 is very good though for deep cranks and it's a little more fool proof than the Lexa. Quote
Missourifishin Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 That is a great price on the Lexa. I've been tempted to get one myself. For deep cranking, get it in the 4.9:1 ratio if you go with the Lexa. Quote
