Super User Gone_Phishin Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 I absolutely love it...couldn't have happened to a more pretentious franchise. I'm hoping the commissioner drops the hammer: multiple draft picks lost, fat fine, postseason ban... Quote

Unfortunately draft pics dont matter as much in baseball and a postseason ban is out of the question. A healthy fine and the loss of some jobs is about it from mlb. Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 As a life-long Cardinals fan the allegations are disturbing. I have carefully read and listened to those who know or think they know what is going on. My conclusion is someone in the organization is guilty of something. I will wait until the facts are known before rushing to judgment. It is interesting how a winning tradition stirs the ire and resentment of some. We may little too proud of our long history of winning and the positive role the club has played in our community and MLB. I think we can be forgiven for that. Haters gonna hate... 1 Quote

People's distaste for the Cards has nothing to do with winning...rather the air of superiority...the Cardinal way if you will. The Cards are the experts on the unwritten rules of baseball. The Cards do it the way it should be done, and everyone else is wrong....and the list goes on. Quote

The Cards are the experts on the unwritten rules of baseball. The Cards do it the way it should be done, and everyone else is wrong....and the list goes on. It has everything to do with winning. The Cardinal Way has worked for a long time. It may not be the only way, but it is the right way for us. Not everyone is willing or able to play according to our code. That's OK. The foundation of our success is built on that code, and that is what offends. Quote

mrmacwvu1 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 As a reds fan i have hated the cardinals since birth However I have always said that they are the best run franchise in all of sports They do not overpay for players and they just keep winning I hope that these allegations prove to be false 3 Quote
Abuss55 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 You must be from Chicago prior to the cardinals it was the Yankees. It is the team that is on top for an extended period of time that ends up being despised and it will change again. Every teams fans have that air about them, it is filled with tradition, memories, the old greats, and pride. Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted June 18, 2015 Super User Posted June 18, 2015 losign draft picks would hurt them because they always build through the draft. from what i have heard on sports radio it seems that it was a disgruntled former employee or something. Guess we will see what happens...i am not a fan of the cardinals but i don't hate them like I do the Mets or Nationals or Braves...I do despise cheating though and feel that all the teams who do it, in any sport, should be dealt with harshly. Super User Lund Explorer Posted June 18, 2015 Super User Posted June 18, 2015 Losing draft picks doesn't hurt. If you want to put the pinch on a pro team, take away some of their salary cap! Quote
