Im sure plenty of people on here will buy them, but I can almost get 3 original rattle traps, or 3 red eye shads for the price of 1 River 2 Sea bait. I know there are ones even more expensive on the market but it makes me giggle when someone tries to reinvent the wheel and charge you triple for it.

When it comes to fishing lures, it is rare when a company comes up with a unique one. That is not to say that all crankbaits, or spinnerbaits are the same and also why your 6XD may outproduce my Deep Little N.  On days when it does, I want to have one at my disposal. If it cost three times my Norman bait, it's worth it to me.  Besides that factor, there is the cost of production that goes into the final price of all our gear.  The majority of anglers paid a much higher price for Rapala lures for decades because they were hand tuned and made from balsa, both of which added to the cost of production.  I giggle too when I see baits costing $20+, because I would never pay that much.  I also wouldn't pay $65K for a glorified Jeep, but that's just me.

Especially from R2S.  I'm struggling to think of something they've made that I've been impressed with.  I'm sure there is something, but it definitely is not coming to me at the moment.  They always seem to come up with weird gimmicky type lures that look cool and don't work all that great.

BPS just had Traps 4/$10. If there's something better about the R2Sea, you coul do it to your Trap cheaper (add better hooks).

Having said that, my buddy uses only Cordell Spots. Reason is they are a darker gold. There are gold shiners where we use them year-round. I already had 2 Traps, so I'm sticking with that.

Spittin' Wa, Rover, Whopper plopper,S-Waver. All solid baits I use. I won't get the lip less because I'm partial to RES but I like their overall offerings.

There wa frog is good and I like their bubble walker. The guys on TT gave the popper high marks but I am not a popper guy. I consider those the best lures but I don't like the trap I have from them.

The S-Waver and Rover are stud lures man.

I'm not big on $16 traps but to say they only produce gimmicky lures is a fallacy.

$15 for three 1/2 oz Rat-L-Traps, where I need to replace the hooks and frown when the paint comes off after a few fish.

$16.50 for three 1/2 oz Red Eye Shads, which I need to test and tune and retest. Good thing it has that seductive shimmy on the fall for when I get frustrated and throw them in the lake.

Yeah. Bargains, mate.

i like the s rover i have.  also liked the wavers for the money, but got rid of them along with all my other swim baits.  so i agree they make some decent stuff.

if you don't like it or want it, just move on.... that's the beauty of the free market....

Lucky Craft LC 500 is a $15+ lipless, you certainly don't want to waste your money on that lure!

I'm partial to the Xcaliburs. They run really good. As for gigglin' at a $12 lure. That's kinda pointless. I'm guessing that the guy fishing your lake with a $12 lure is beating the crap out of you when you fish with Bill Lewis Traps. I wouldn't fish Bill Lewis Traps after they discontinued my favorite color and raised their prices anyways. No reason for me to buy them anymore...

You can keep the RES. They are a ok bait and they are cheap. It is probabaly why they are so popular. I have plenty of traps that cost way more then a RES and they act like it to. Usually you get what you pay for in fishing lures. There is probably a reason one lure is $5 and another is $15.

R2S definetly has their fair share of "gimmicky lures", but they have a handful of good lures, especially their frogs.

Dahlberg Diver is border line gimmicky, they also had a crawfish crankbait (not the Clackin' Craw) that looked kinda cheesy.  I just checked their website and it looks like most of the gimmicky stuff has been discontinued.  They have some pretty cool stuff you can't get with any other company.  They walk the line between different/creative and "gimmicky" pretty well.

I have several lipless cranks> Rat L Traps, Lucky Crafts, Yo Zuri's version, XCalibur, Megabass, Rapala, etc....  They all catch fish.  I like the XCaliburs the best but Lucky Crafts tend to catch more than most.  Best bang for the buck will always the Rat L Trap though.
