Not sure what brand mine is, but it is a rubber mesh net (good as the hooks do not get easily caught up in it)

Approximate dimensions are 16" long, 12" wide and "12 deep and has a handle that extends some. The net floats and it will stretch a little to accommodate a fish that is a little larger than the dimensions.

I usually grab bass by the lips unless a really large one and use this for pickerel and trout when I hook into one while bass fishing. The net is too small for a really big trout or pike and I have been overmatched a few times with this net, but for the most part, it works for me when bass fishing and is compact.

Hey everyone,

Was wondering what people are using. I have heard frabil trout nets are good size for a kayak. Looking for some suggestions as it is a little difficult judging sizes online. Thank you.

You have a lot of options here. Trout nets are

excellent size for yaks, but sometimes you want

a longer reach...a longer trout net would work great.

http://fishpondusa.com/makes amazing carbon fiber

nets. If I could afford one, I would own one, LOL.

Leverage landing nets are excellent though pricey.

I've lost a few folding nets to Davy Jones' Locker,

but I like them, they're convenient.

Lately I've been using a simple aluminum net that

floats. Costs like $6-9 at places like Dick's and

Walmart. Not painful if they're lost.

I use a fish grip for the toothy fish, my hands for the rest.

I use a Leverage net, regardless of kayak, boat, or shore.

Frabill hiber net, compact and out of the way (no snagging), store in a rod holder.

I use the frabil trout net, with rubber mesh. It is the perfect size, weight, and ease of use. I clip it to the top line of my anchor trolley and put it my factory flush mount rod holder ( otherwise useless. )

Its fairly cheap, and will handle fish up to 27" or so before you start to wonder if they'll fit.

I carry a frabill trout net with me when steelheading, and it is a quality product. I want to get a smaller one for creek smallmouth. It would certainly work well on a kayak.

I don't use a net and don't really see the need for one in a Kayak. I'm sure others will disagree but I just lip the bass or use my fish grabber for toothie critters.

Yeah ....in freshwater I do basically the same. Every once in a while I use my net. ......mostly when Im using treble hooks.

But I use it fairly regularly in the salt.
