Super User Cgolf Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Posted June 15, 2015 It is ridiculous with how hard these are to find locally. While I know I could get them from tackle warehouse, I currently don't have the funds to do a full order. All the shops I talked to don't carry them because to be honest they just see them as another senko knock off and they already carry plenty of them and other soft plastics. The new Cabela's store we have has been out since I bought the last pack and they don't know when they are getting more in. Is this a supply issue on Z mans part or in Cabela's case an issue where they aren't stocking their new store well. Also the Z man distributers could do a better job of differentiating there product, when I explained the difference with the Z man baits to one shop owner he sounded intrigued that it wasn't just another senko like bait. 2 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted June 16, 2015 Super User Posted June 16, 2015 I agree that it's a completely different bait, I didn't understand how they were different until I watched some of Winkiedoodles' videos on youtube about the ned rig and z man baits. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 16, 2015 Super User Posted June 16, 2015 Thats because all the MidWest Finesse guys are sucking the inventory dry in the Central US ... Try either coast and you will find plenty . Actually who knows why ? However where I live Strike King Zeros and Zman ZinkerZ are easy to find ... TRD not so much as it is still a somewhat new soft plastic . Quote
jitterbug127 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I can't found them either. Probably just going to have to bulk order from tackle warehouse Quote
Preytorien Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I got lucky at a store about 20mins south of me. But he said they can't hardly keep them in stock. After using them on just two outings, in lakes that typically are pressured/hard to fish this time of year, I'm a believer. Don't know HOW they work, but they do. Quote
EmersonFish Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 A big issue is that many smaller tackle shop owners are not completely dialed in to what is currently hot on the market right now. You'd think with it being their livelihood, they would be, but it just doesn't work that way. And they are reluctant to commit to ordering new product based on one or two people asking about it. They have such slim margins, they just can't afford to get burned ordering what looks to them like another little stick bait. Z-Man distributors could probably remedy this to some degree, but how many of these guys can there be? Some of the big-box stores seem to have issues with either being committed to certain tackle companies, or having some fool (who may have fished once) in the home office somewhere dictating to the franchises across the country what they will carry. As far as Z-Man's production versus the stores ordering enough to keep up, I don't know, but if something is selling fast, I tend to assume the producer is holding things up. I doubt Z-Man is sitting on a lot of product right now. I got lucky last time I was at Bass Pro in Springfield, MO, and they had a fresh stock of TRD's and the jig heads. This was after two days at Bull Shoals of cutting up little senkos until they ran out, then having to get really creative with cutting up other plastic baits, because the smallmouth were destroying the "Ned-Rig" like baits, and I was going through them like crazy. 1 Quote
5fishlimit Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I was at my local shop yesterday and was able to pick up the 1/15 and 1/10oz jigs, and the junebug and green pumpkin TRD's. After reading all the success people are having with this I just have to check it out for myself. Quote
Bassin Bob Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Online orders are equally problematic. I've ordered from Tackle Warehouse and others just to find jigheads and bodies are put on backorder. Seems there is no reliable supplier that I can find. Quote
DanielN Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Glad everyone likes the TRDs and Finesse ShroomZ, but sorry to hear that folks are having a hard time getting ahold of them. Like anything new, it sometimes takes distributors and dealers a bit longer to catch onto something new than us fishermen! It can be a bit frustrating for us as a manufacturer too, but it's just part of the deal unfortunately. A lot of the national chains like Cabela's and Bass Pro place orders well in advance, so it can take them a little bit longer to respond when something gets hot. The distributors that service smaller dealers often refuse to stock products in their warehouses until dealers request it and only add new items on an annual basis in the fall or winter. And, most dealers are limited on space and funds sometimes too, so many don't bring in new items until customers are screaming for them and they know they can sell them! We have plenty of TRDs in stock, and if you're having trouble finding them elsewhere, you can always give us a call at (877) 797-242 and order from us directly. If you know any dealers that should be stocking these or are out, feel free to send us their name and contact info so we can send them a catalog, or have them call us directly. We have been a little bit backed up on the Finesse ShroomZ heads recently, but we just shipped large orders to Bass Pro, Cabela's, and Tackle Warehouse last week, and more are on the way. Again, you're welcome to give us a shout to see what we have in stock and when we might have more in. Thanks for the interest in the Ned Rig system, and nice to see that people are realizing the benefits of the TRD and how different these baits are! Please give us a shout if there's anything we can do for you! 5 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted June 16, 2015 Super User Posted June 16, 2015 ^^ Yeah, this ^^ It's not the MF guys sucking them up. We've been fishing this way for years and have more than an ample supply of baits and jig heads. I could go a year or two before needing to restock. It's everybody else finally catching on in a short window of time - "the rig" even showed up in my Dobyn's newsletter this morning -T9 1 Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 What's the deal with Z-Man and west central Indiana? I got into fishing three years ago and I know the local big stores around here carried Z-Man products because I bought three or four packs of their soft plastics. Now, three years later, I don't see any stores carrying Z-Man. Makes me wonder if the other lure companies are so big they can flood and push other lure companies out and off the shelves at the big stores. Quote
Super User CWB Posted June 16, 2015 Super User Posted June 16, 2015 If you can't find the Zinker Z but can find Strike King Zero's, get them. Same bait. Both ElazTech. Quote
EmersonFish Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Well there you go. That's the great thing about Bassresource some times. Someone asks a question, I speculate as to what the answer may be, and then someone from the company steps in and pretty much explains exactly what is happening, rendering my speculation pretty much useless (not that it wasn't already). In any case, it's good to know they have plenty of TRD's in stock. Once the dealers figure out they can sell them in quantity, they'll start ordering them accordingly. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted June 21, 2015 Author Super User Posted June 21, 2015 Just want to give props to Z mans customer service. I sent an email asking about availability in WI and they got back to me that they didn't have the answer, but would ask the sales rep and also asked if I knew of any stores that I would like to see carry the baits. They got back to me that they talked to the sales rep and that they knew the shops I had suggested (they carry some Z man stuff) and they would talk to them about carrying Ned rig components. It was refreshing to get something other than a canned response, you could tell that they cared about getting their product into their customers hands. Quote
Longo Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Hopefully one of the shops you asked them about was Dorn. I was in there the other day and they weren't familiar with any of the products from Z-man for the rig and basically only had a couple Z-man products on the shelf. Quote

Longo Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I haven't checked the shop on Northport. Otherwise I too have looked all over the Madison area with no luck. Everything I have has come from TW or Cabela's online. Since you are local though I'd be more than happy to sell a couple bags if you are in need. Just let me know Quote

Longo Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 That's the one. I haven't been over there in a while. Quote
