spiggy1 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I've been using P Lines 100% Fluorocarbon and love it. But I've been on the edge about trying some CXX. Any opinions on CXX? What fishing applications do you mostly use CXX for and rather not Fluorocarbon? Quote
kingmotorboat Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I use cxx for jigs and Texas rigs and well almost everything and love it Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I have a spool of 20 lb cxx. I like to use it over fluoro in places where I might need some serious knot strength. Spinnerbaits and square bills in lily pads. Mostly so I can get them free from snags without breaking off. Also, the high lb test keeps the spinnerbait high in the water column which i like. I also like it as a leader for hudd 68's. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted June 16, 2015 Super User Posted June 16, 2015 Never used P Line since I'm a fan of Trilene and Sunline but here are some recent threads on it that may be good reading. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/157895-p-line-or-hi-seas-grand-slam/page-1 http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/157274-p-line-cx-vs-floroclear/?view=getnewpost Quote

Jon G Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 CXX is pretty good stuff and has incredible strength. 10lb CXX has a breaking strength of around 22lbs Quote
Dogmatic Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I've switch all my outfits over to CXX, except my heavy frog rod, and a spinning outfit. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 16, 2015 Super User Posted June 16, 2015 CXX is a good, tough line. Pay attention to the line diameter though, you might want to drop down a size from what you're used to fishing. 1 Quote
bigfishbk86 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 On all my spinning and casting rods that don't have braid, I use CXX in 8-20lb depending on the setup. You need to use line and lure, but it's worth it imo. Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I'm another huge P-Line fan, have been for years. There was a time I used CXX for everything except frogs, today I'm only using it on my cranking rod. I've pretty much moved to all braid. It's a great multipurpose line, you can fish it for just about any and every technique. I'm also a big fan of their 100% Fluorocarbon and I mainly use it for leaders. I would choose the fluorocarbon for jigs and worms regardless of how or where I'm fishing because of its superior sensitivity. A-Rigs, big swimbaits, or large hard body topwater lures I'd definitely go with CXX. I think the handling characteristics of these two lines are fairly close with the slight edge going to the CXX IMHO. Quote

I love there fluoro but I may go back to cxx because the sensitivity on the cxx is amazing Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 16, 2015 Super User Posted June 16, 2015 Spinnerbaits, general plastics, jigs and swimbaits are CXX territory for me. Drop shot, deep cranking, finesse, clear water are fluoro territory. Quote
hatrix Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 You can also count me in for CXX. I use it anywhere from 10-20# and it works for everything. Very minimal stretch and very good sensitivity. Quote
kingmotorboat Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I use 12 pound for everything from jigs to trigs to yum singers. My favorite line by far Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted June 18, 2015 Super User Posted June 18, 2015 Great line. I like fluorocarbon, but if I had to use only one line, it would be CXX. FWIW braid would be a distant third on that list, with or without a leader. Quote
ibobpeb Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Keep in mind that copoly lines like CXX tend to be thicker in diameter. 12 lb CXX 0.37 mm diameter = 20 lb Sunline Sniper FC Fluorocarbon 0.37 mm diameter Between the two, Sunline Sniper FC is more manageable and supple. Of course, CXX costs significantly less. Quote
Jon G Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I will add also that I think P Lines Fluorocarbon is great too. It is actually my second favorite Fluorocarbon after FC Sniper. Quote
