The_fisherman Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Wow! I can only guess what it takes to land fish like this! http://www.anglersmail.co.uk/news/world-carp-record-rises-to-105-lb-56992 1 Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Wow, it probably fought like a tank. What a fatty. 3 Quote
CeeJay Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Wow what a giant, and the lake was apparently only 28 acres. Quote
DevinFishing29 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 That is absolutely a monster! Congrats to those guys! Quote
Crabcakes Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Wow what a giant, and the lake was apparently only 28 acres. Lots of the euro carp fishing is done on managed lakes with feeders, water quality control etc. Still a pretty small lake but it makes a huge difference of course. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 17, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 17, 2015 I wouldn't think that would have been much of a fight. So fat it doesn't seen like it could swim very well, kind of like those super fat, fancy goldfish that kind of just limp around a fish tank. Just the massive size would make it some serious work to drag in on the light tackle they usually seem to use across the pond though. Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Dear god. It out-fatted 85% of it's scales. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 17, 2015 Super User Posted June 17, 2015 What has that thing been eating! Quote

Carp is the one of the strongest swimmers amongst freshwater fish. The fisherman who caught it had to sweat a lot before landing that chunk. Quote

The fisherman who caught it had to sweat a lot before landing that chunk. Well aware that they're a strong fish, one of the strongest in freshwater in the US pound for pound without a doubt. At some point though, a fish must get so fat that it becomes difficult for it to function properly. I've caught some grotesquely fat catfish that could do little more than roll and let me drag them in. That giant, distended stomach just seems like it would make it difficult for the fish to even swim very well. Shear size/weight is still going to allow for some pretty serious pulling power though obviously. Quote
*Hank Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I can't imagine how much that fought! I cuaght a 4lb carp and it was a 5-10min fight. Quote

The_fisherman Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 To me it looks like a hybrid of mirror and leather carp. Quote
