NEBasser101 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Today it is cloudy with scattered rain showers. The water temp is above 70 degrees. What and where should I fish? Thanks Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 15, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 15, 2015 Well...Not knowing anything about your choices of "what and where" It's kinda hard to give a specific recommendation I'd feel confident in giving you. So, when I have cloudy and rainy conditions, a frog in the weeds, a spook or another top water in more open water will be my first choice. I love fishin in the rain. By the way, Welcome Mike Quote
Super User scaleface Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Posted June 15, 2015 Cant answer that for you. Its cloudy and rainy here too and if I was fishing today I'd first try to catch fish shallow on buzzbaits . Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Posted June 15, 2015 Same weather here. I went out today, and they hit everything I cast. Wacky worm, shaky head, Menace and Flapping Hog. The shaky head had a 3/16th ounce head and everything else, including the wacky worm was rigged on 1/8th ounce jig head. Hook sizes were 1/0 on the wacky, 2/0 on the Menace and Flapping Hog, and 3/0 on the shaky head. Caught 'em deep, though that's a relative term when the deepest water is less than ten feet, caught 'em in as little as three feet. The action was non-stop. It was one of those days when they would have hit anything. Many of the bass were regurgitating yellow perch up to five inches long. 2 Quote

Super User Solution bigbill Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Solution Posted June 15, 2015 I throw the joesfly 1/4oz bass size spinflys in firetiger apache in cloudy low light rainy days. I also throw his blacknat silver blade too. I also throw a strike king inline spinner #3 silver blade black fly. Don't feel too fast. Just go fast enough to make the blades spin. Don't be afraid to throw a chartruese color on cloudy over cast days. This frenzy happens when the weather is correct. I'm not sure if it's tied in with the moon phase too. This feeding frenzy happens before the rain hits, and during the rain or when it's between the rain showers when it calms down. I been trying to figure this timing out for years. Most fisherman never witness this. I swear they would bite a bare hook. I caught smallies during this time when I never caught a smallies there before. Mainly LMB only. Standing on shore once I caught 19 bass while skip fan casting. Bass after bass. I also caught two weird pink and white Sun fish shaped fish too. My older brother my mentor and fishing buddy always told me to stay going and sooner or later they will turn on. After he passed on I had it happen finally. I believe it happens more post spawn. Sometime between post spawn and the hot weather. I need to get more weather equipment to figure this feeding frenzy out. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Posted June 15, 2015 Beat the bank with a spinnerbait. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Posted June 15, 2015 I run the spinners where there above the sight line and then slow it down so it's below the sight line. Quote
