Bb-1 Pro Or Superduty?

Ok so ive decided to go with lews from here on out, im super happy with first one i got. 100 dollar model. All the local shop had, so i need new reel for flipping, 8-1 gear ratio, im stuck with which one to go with

Either braid or 25lb flouro, still tossed up, i think im over braid

They hold 160 of twelve on the bb1 and 150 on the superduty..bb1 has 6 pin centrifugal brake and the sd has external magnetic brakes..bb1 is 7.1:1 and the sd comes in 8.0:1 but is a tad heavier and 20 bucks more..id go super duty for the easy brake adjustment but for flippin id get the6.4:1...either way youll be happy, both reels are nice so ive heard, even their entry level reels are very good, i have a binch and love them.

Darn i tgought the bb-1 pro had an 8.1, i really want the higher gear to get in and out of the junk.

You have less power with the higher gear ratio..8:1.1 isnt an ideal flippin pitchin ratio imo but go with what you like, i prefer power o er speed for that presentation..

i just picked up a MB in the 8.3 ratio and so far its a sweet reel im having a hard time figuring out the difference fromk my TP's which cost more

Yea i see that it comes in the 8, i think i got tnat and bb mixed up, maybe i will just get the mb i know i wont be let down

I prefer the Tournament Pro to the MG or MB. But for your application I'd go Super Duty. Don't over think the gear ratio. Get the 8:1:1. Being a lefty reel lover I have no choice but to go 6:4:1.

I just love the options that the MSB offers...but probably a non-issue for flipping. I wouldn't think you'd need much braking control at all for flipping, but I don't flip from the bank...so I wouldn't know for sure.

The 8.x:1 SD would also be my choice for this application.

I have an 8.1:1 super duty for my jigs and Texas rigs in wood or cover etc. For frogging or places with heavy weeds, I'm using the 7.1:1 for the speed and little extra torque. Both have Long handles which help overall.

My tournament mb is 8.5:1 and used for weightless plastics and topwaters because the dual braking helps with lighter lures.

I could not love my MB any more. It is a great reel. I plan on buying more.

I've mentioned this in other threads: the extra capacity of the super duty is unneeded for flipping.

That being said, I use my tournament mb for flipping and my bb1 pro for bombing lures a mile. In previous posts they were talking about the bb1 and not the bb1 pro. The pro has the externally adjustable centrifugal brakes with over 20 settings. Best feature of the reel.

I believe the extra capacity was to allow for use of larger on test while still have a good amount of line in the reel.

But when flipping...you're not flipping 50 yards. You don't need 120 yards of fat line on it.

I have a tp, bb1-pro, and bb2. I have handled a super duty, and I prefer the bb series over the other lews reels

The Super Duty has a wide deep spool. It's a great pitching reel. The line just rolls off it.

_{I use my 8.0:1 super duty for pitching, flipping and frogs, I love it and helps me be more efficient pitching with the high gear ratio. I also love my bb1-pro for bombing casts, but my tournament pro's are my favorite out of all of them, I wish Lews made the tp in a 8.0:1 and I would be all over it. I use all 7.1 except for my super duty}
