Ever have one of those evenings that fish after fish is a half way to the boat and then it gets off. Ugh. But at least still had a good evening.

There was an interesting article about this recently about not using huge hooksets. Hopefully someone can find it and link it for you. The idea is that the bass has your bait further back in its mouth and by some leaning and reeling you have a better chance of hooking them than rearing back and slamming the hook home. Its easy to do with a swim jig or chatterbait but when it comes to a flipping jig I always slam the hook back.

Yup, Happens a lot with a bladed jig. Only thing I can guess is that they are really choking it and you are hooking them in soft fleshy part in the back of the mouth.

Couple weeks ago during a weeknight tournament. I had my Virb Elite set up and recorded the whole night. I counted 13 times a fish either came off or I missed them altogether. Not surprisingly we didn't win that night. Last week wasn't much better. Seemed like every bigger fish that blew up on my frog just missed it completely.

I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes... Just wasn't in the cards for us with the frogs. No reason the big blow-ups should have missed the frog entirely! Froggin, it's a love/hate thing!
