*Hank Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Which rod do you prefer? I will be getting one in a 7ft med hvy cranking model, which one is better? Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted June 14, 2015 Super User Posted June 14, 2015 I don't own a Kistler. I do own 3 Tatulas. One is the 7'2" MHR. I like it a lot. Nice looking rod that is light and is pretty sensitive too. It was the first Tatula rod I bought....hence why I bought 2 more. Could kick myself for not buying the 7'4" HF when Walmart was selling them for $114 and change. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 14, 2015 Super User Posted June 14, 2015 I've got the same Tatula 7'2" MHR rod. I also have one of the older Alton Jones Magnesium cranking rods. It is composite though, I don't think it compares to the new Mag rods. I like both rods a lot, for what it's worth. Quote
*Hank Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 I think I will get the Tatula rod and pair it with my Type R. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted June 14, 2015 Super User Posted June 14, 2015 I have two Tatulas and one Kistler Helium. I'm pretty sure the Helium is a better rod than the Magnesium. One Tatula is a 7' ML-R. the Kistler is a 7' ML-mod fast. Very comparable in terms of power, action, weight and sensitivity. When I have room for only one of these, I take the Tatula. Quote
illinifan4152 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I have the older kistler mag 7' mhm crank rattle and roll, great all around reaction bait Rod. super versatile Quote

My second Tatula rod was the 7' MLR. I've been considering a KLX the past year since a lot of people think so highly of this model calling it the absolute best in its price range. A friend thinks the blank is over-rated so I have held back. I remember the flurry over all the Dobyns models. The best thing since sliced bread. It wasn't until about 2 years after they came out that some people started admitting that if you wanted a sensitive rod, there were better options than the Savvy in that price range. Quote
