Fishing with CP Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I need people's opinions, because I really want to catch a fish on it. Should I Texas rig it with a worm weight? And where should I use it? I usually bank fish in ponds. Quote
ABW Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 4/0 EWG and a 1/8 oz tungsten sinker. I start by throwing it parallel to the bank and hopping it around. If there's cover, throw it into that stuff. You could also fish it weightless on top like a buzzbait, too. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 13, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 13, 2015 1/4oz bullet weight, 4/0 EWG hook, pitch it at everything that a fish might hold on. There's tons of ways to fish them, but that's about the best way to use them that I've found. 1 Quote
desmobob Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I use them most as a jig trailer. They work great for me! Tight lines, Bob Quote
Super User webertime Posted June 13, 2015 Super User Posted June 13, 2015 T-rig, flip/punch, chatterbait and swim jig trailers, and on biffleheads. Quote

Fishing with CP Posted June 13, 2015 Author Posted June 13, 2015 Do you cut it or anything whenever you use it as a jig trail? Quote
desmobob Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Do you cut it or anything whenever you use it as a jig trail? No... use the whole, big, tasty-looking thing! Tight lines, Bob Quote
desmobob Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Fish love 'em! I started the day with a Pit Boss as the trailer on a 1/2 oz. Stanley rattling jig. On my first cast early this morning around some old railroad trestle pilings, I hooked a good fish but noticed it was fighting strangely... it just didn't feel like a bass. It wasn't. It was a 4.5 lb. walleye. Later in the day that same jig/trailer took a nice smallmouth and a big northern pike, too. Versatile! Tight lines, Bob Quote
annexation Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Any time, any place, any way. But I usually have one texas rigged with a light bullet, 1/8 or 3/16, and I work it slow wherever I think fish are at. When the nose gets torn up, I save them for later use as a jig trailer. They are sized perfecty for most 4/0 EWG hooks. Bury the hook point back into the plastic after rigging to make it super weedless. Best of luck! Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Posted June 15, 2015 Let me count the ways I use it: On a t-rig using 1/4 -1oz. weights for pitching docks, laydowns, weed pockets, misc. cover, or punching...............CHECK As a flipping, football, finesse, or swim jig trailer............CHECK Drop shot in open water on spinning gear, or power shot in cover.............CHECK On Biffle/wobble type heads..............CHECK IMHO they are the "duct tape" of creature, beaver, craw, and/or flipping baits, tons of uses. Do some other baits excel in other area's......sure, but not many are as versatile as the Pit Boss. BONUS............they are cheap too. 2 Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted June 15, 2015 Super User Posted June 15, 2015 Honestly if you can find a way they don't work I'd be more surprised than the other way around. 1 Quote
Arv Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I've had best outcomes using them t-rigged, but as already mentioned, there are lots of ways to use them. Quote
jbarlowgd Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I've had luck throwing them on swimbait hooks, weighted os weightless, into grass. Quote
