Scorchx1245 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I was inquiring about seneca lake, in nys, need some help digesting this huge deep water lake. Quote
PAGreg Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I avoid it because the boat traffic is non stop. Seems to be the busiest of the finger lakes. Quote
LuckyGia Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 My cousin is a guide on that lake. Very nice lake for trout. There are better bass lakes up here. Try Onieda Quote
LuckyGia Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I have a tournament on seneca lol do you have time to practice ? If not, as you know finger lakes drop off deep. My guess would stay in 10 to 15 ft of water and try for the best. supposed to rain so I am not sure of the lake level right now. But I know the canal is flooded along with Cross lake. I bet you will be in for some tough fishing. Quote
Zach Nute Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Drop shot in the 15ft-25ft range.. Look for the steep drop-off's near spawning areas. Are you targeting Largemouth or Smallmouth? Quote

Steep drop offs in the finger lakes are like 150 feet deep. These lakes are hundreds of feet deep. Hard to find 25 ft. What is Seneca , I think 600 feet deep. Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Most likely smallies, it's in the end of June. Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 I also was thinking the canal caught some largemouth there. And it it's really windy through in 5 footers I'll stay north not making any far runs.... 1 Quote
LuckyGia Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Yeah, if there is a strong North / South wind on any finger lake. Stay home. I had a 25 foot SeaRay I kept on Cayuga for 5 years at Treman park in Ithaca. If the wind was blowing, you get seriously tossed around. Better make sure the Locks are open. I know they have some real flooding going on and they will close the locks when flooding . Quote
