Super User iabass8 Posted June 9, 2015 Super User Posted June 9, 2015 I prefer Sunline. Specifically Shooter and Sniper 2 Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 You kinda get what you pay for with fluorocarbon. The best cheap fluorocarbon is seaguar red label if you ask me. If you just want to use fluorocarbon as a leader, I'd buy fluorocarbon made for leaders. This type of fluorocarbon lacks in manageability, but is harder and more abrasion resistant. Seaguar invizx is a good fluorocarbon for manageability/castability. I.e. it's pretty good as a mainline. I like it for reaction baits. There are lots of good options out there for fluorocarbon. *Hank Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Sunline is #1 for me but i usally can only afford seagur wich works fine. Quote
Jon G Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Sunline FC Sniper is my go to line for anything besides topwater and crankbaits/jerkbaits. Shooter is good but I do not recomend it if you have never used a fluorocarbon because it is very stiff and harder to manage than Sniper 2 Quote
Danturner Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 I was leaning towards seaguar tatsu. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. Looking to spoil it not as a leader. Also wondering how tough this line is, do I have to worry about it snapping all the time and losing fish and lures? Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Tatsu is supposed to be a top of the line fishing line. And you always have to check your line for nicks, scratches, tears, cuts, abrasions, etc. and retie our knot after every two or three fish to avoid losing fish and lure from line and knot failure. Seaguar makes the Bass Pro Shops XPS Fluorocarbon line so you may want to check it out, too. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Fluorocarbon is fluorocarbon, you either like/need it or you don't Personally, I'd opt for the brand that offers the smallest diameter, because fluoro is 'fat' line (i.e. Seaguar, Sunline). Roger Quote
Super User deep Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 I do have a little experience with Tatsu. A fair amount actually. What type of baits are you planning to fish, what sort of cover/ structure, and spinning or casting? And, what line are you currently fishing? Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Tatsu is the best of all the attributes combined. There are single lines which do one thing better but lack I n other areas. That said Kureha R18 is unbelievable when you can get it. As is Evergreen. Dollar for dollar, in readily available stuff, it's Tatsu or bust for me. 1 Quote
masterbass Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 This year I started using sniper and I have to say I love it for senko and light t rigs. I would definitely get some kvd line and lure conditioner because it works. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Sunline or Seaguar for me. Quote

Pretty open areas as far as vegetation goes, using on a casting reel. Rocky creek bottoms and such. Quote
Super User deep Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Pretty open areas as far as vegetation goes, using on a casting reel. Rocky creek bottoms and such. 12# Tatsu with SD jam knot is my recommendation. Check for abrasion often (it has a softer outer layer which makes knot tying easy). 12# Tatsu has the diameter of most 8# USDM lines. P.S. 12# Tatsu was strong enough to land this little 3.5# that wanted to play and wrapped herself in a seriously gnarly tree. 1 Quote
cottny27 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 A good starter fluoro to try is Seaguar Red Label for like $11. I put it on one reel this year and its worked great in 10# test. I soak everything with KVD and have no issues. I use AbrazX & InvizX on other combos with no issues. Meticulous knot tying seems to be the most important step with all fluoro. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Any opinions on the best brand?Always evaluate fluorocarbon line by comparing line diameters verses strength (labeled # test).Diameter is very important and sets one mfr of FC apart from the others. Several excellent FC lines on the market, Sunline is a good value, Super Sniper good all around line. Seaguar Tatsu is excellent FC, equal line diameter to Sunline Sniper, 50% more expensive. Blackwater Toray Super Hard Hi test or Bass Hi-Class FC are both good, price in between Tatsu and a sniper. Tom Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 10, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 10, 2015 Sunline FC Sniper for me. Ditto I've used Invisex for years until I tried this. Mike 1 Quote

Price isn't a problem Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Tatsu and Invisx are probably two of the best all purpose lines. I use both, and prefer Tatsu, though I can't say it's "twice as good" as the price reflects, though I find it works really well for my drop shot program. Quote
