These rods were once my favorite. They simply amazed me.... The casting distance and the overall compelling evidence of a perfect rod. I was in love at first sight.. fast forward a few years later.... Now if you ask me what I think about Ducketts? they're trash, better yet horrible. Simply put, Chinese made junk. i've had the tips break in multiple places, the micro guides break off or the inner ring fall out of the guide and cause it to fray my line. then you look for your warranty, and it just ran out... or Duckett wont replace it!?! I'm sorry to those of you that like them, but i respectively disagree on your rod choice. The Duckett brand is nothing more than a company selling a name instead of a good product. just as you see all these younger kids wearing designer jeans. Boyd Duckett and his crew are not making any special product. they are making a special brand to make money off the crap they sale. I myself will never even consider buying a product of theirs again. Please excuse my rant, but have any of y'all had these problems?

Buy another rod.

It is a free market ya know. The Govt isn't forcing you to buy Duckett.

White Carrot Stix......  Too Funny....

General rule of thumb....  If it has a fisherman's name on it, I'll pass.  One exception...... KVD line conditioner...Good stuff.

This rule has served me well.  On this forum and others, I constantly see..."My Duckett, my Skeet Reese, my KVD, etc... rod/reel is giving me issues."

And KVD Sexy Frog...I don't know who "Sexy Frog is, but he makes good lures!

They look sweet, they have nice action to them, they are priced at good price points. I have a buddy who loves his. He doesn't sit around reading Internet forums, but he tosses a bunch of bass lures into the water in a year's time. After three years, he will have formed an opinion on them that I highly value. His three are all the low end Ghost models and he says that if they don't pan out, he'll throw them into the bed of my truck. I'm not going to buy one. If I'm gonna drop over $100 on a rod, it will be so I can deal with ST Croix or G Loomis. Besides those, I may buy a custom here and there.

I have no dog in this fight. However calling them a white carrot stick is laughable. Duckett makes a decent rod. Are they worth the asking price for the higher end models? To me no. Much better choices in that $150-180 price range. A friend of mine fishes them. He's a young 18yr old kid. He's rough on gear. That might even be an understatement. He also fishes multiple clubs, and when not fishing tournaments he's fishing just to fish. Also due to his dad loving to fish, and owning a very good business. They go all over to fish. They take 2-4 big trips a year. The boy puts more time on the water than anyone I know. Never once has he had any issues with his Ducketts. Maybe he's just very lucky.

Maybe i wouldnt have such a distaste if the company would offer better customer service... but you know they dont... so????? what to do? buy a powell is what i think

I do not have a problem with this, it is his Opinion and he has a right to say what he thinks. I love Duckett rods they have been great. They also have a fantastic warranty that they stand behind. I've had his same XP with other rod companies, any of them can and do break. Duckett will and does honor the warranty unless you did something wrong yourself. You really can't break a rod in a door or a rod box and expect a company to replace it. Last I checked most companies make products to sell to make money. I do not think I have ever seen one that didn't want to make money. Duckett, Megabass and ALX Rod's are three of the best bass rods made, BAR NONE.

EDIT....not locked but you can bet money if it was me saying this same thing about dobyns rod's, it would be locked quick, fast and in a hurry after I was jumped on by about six different dobyns guys.   :USA:

They are as good as any other rods in their price range.  I think micro guides are more prone to issues because of their size but that makes sense.  I have one that I picked up that I am really starting to like, it loads well is light and comfortable to hold and seems sensitive.  I also like that they have more of a bend than a lot of other rods.  they just don't seem to be as stiff to me.

If it breaks I will buy something else to try.  I don't feel the need to be too invested in any company and their products that I don't own stock in.

I have broken 3 rods in the last couple years and the duckett was not one of them

duckett's a good company and so is powell.  If it was the manufacturers fault they would have definitely honored the warranty.  if they wouldn't honor the warranty it sounds like user error to me... :Idontknow:

He's telling us the rod had a problem.. No big deal. Then he's saying exactly what the company did about it. Maybe he did step over the line a little. Not for me to decide.

I don't own a Duckett Rod.. If I do pull the trigger it will be for a White Ice. I haven't any heard complaints about them.

No anger here, I enjoyed reading your opinion. I happen to like them for other folks, if they enjoy them. Ultimately, the market will bear the results of this product line. If they don't pan out over time, folks will stop buying them. Cheers.
