RobbyZ5001 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Does anyone have any ideas on how to setup a bigger lead melting and pouring operation? I have some smaller pots like a 5lob and a 20 lb. I would want to do something like 50-100 pounds. I would like to keep it as simple of an operation as possible. Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Great site, although I had something A LOT cheaper in mind. I am hoping someone knows a good way to make a home made melter. I have read on other forums about using dutch ovens and propane tanks, and turkey fryers. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 28, 2009 Super User Posted March 28, 2009 I have done that for melting various sizes of lead to cast ingots but not to pour baits except one time with babbit because it wouldn't work in my lead pot. Quote
fats69 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Don't know of many that are any bigger than the 10 and 20 lb bottom pour pots personnally. What you describe is what alot of guys use to smelt and flux dirty lead then using a ladle to pour clean bars for the bottom pour melters. You don't say what you're pouring or ramping up for. I've talked to alot of guys on the Cast Boolits site and they use the 10 and 20 lb pots for molding 1000's of bullets a month. Fatman Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Try RCBS I think they make a bigger one then 20lbs. Quote
