Dypsis Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 How long after the pro's leave an area will the bite pick back up. So BASSfest ends today, my question is how long afterwards does a lake or river system take for the bite to come back around? Not that I am fishing KY Lake or anything, just a general question. Ozark_Basser Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 There are still plenty of fish to be caught. 1 Quote
sprint61 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 If it is a lake like ky lake they never stop there is always fish to be cought. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted June 11, 2015 Super User Posted June 11, 2015 Had some buddies a few years ago fishing on the same lake as the classic. They caught fish immediately after a pro leaves. I don't think they really pick a place apart like most common anglers do. I've seen them many times pull up to a spot, make 5 (or fewer) casts and leave that spot all in about 2 minutes. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 11, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 11, 2015 I've seen fish reload an area after an hour or so, and seen fish still on a spot that's been hammered pretty good. If they're resident fish they won't move far from thier comfort zone. Getting them to commit to something after they've seen it all in a relatively short period of time is the problem. It's not that they're not there. Mike Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 11, 2015 Super User Posted June 11, 2015 I'm totally unfamiliar with pro tournaments, so forgive if this is a dumb question, but how do they handle the release? At the ramp like locals? One location? Multiple locations? Is it a secret? Different each day? I, for one, would want to be fishing the next couple days in the 'area' near where the tourny fish have been released. 1 Quote

I, for one, would want to be fishing the next couple days in the 'area' near where the tourny fish have been released. depends on the tournament. I saw an article about the triton tournament they had earlier on kentucky lake about a bunch of dead bass washing up on shore. in that article, they said the tournament had 2 release boats with aerator tanks and all that good stuff. i assume they disperse the fish a bit rather than dumping in one location. Dypsis Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure if it was an issue or not, just curious. Seems it shouldn't be one. Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 12, 2015 Super User Posted June 12, 2015 Dypsis, we call the situation you are asking about "all fished out." We mean the specific location has been fished by other anglers, pros or amateurs. So how long do you wait to go back? Fastest time: 1 hour Average time: 6 hours Longest time: One or two days All depends on the amount of bass in the area and if any of the bigger ones will stake claim to the structure when the other big one leaves. As for where do the bass tournaments release their caught fish: Local Bass Clubs - at weigh-in location by the ramp Professional Tournaments - From a release boat about one or two miles up or down stream from the weigh-in site, out of sight from the angers and spectators.
