cdunlapb12 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 I'm assuming it's a turtle, but I'm not really sure. For the past two days, when I was jig fishing on the bottom, I've been getting bites that almost feel like a vibrating phone is on the end of my line. When I pull it back up, some of the appendages on my pit boss's are missing. I've caught turtles before but nothing has ever felt like that. Anyone have experience with this? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 6, 2015 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2015 I've had crawdads grab a bait and try to flip away with it, it's a crazy feeling when they do. 1 Quote
BooyahMan Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Kind of sounds like a small fish like a sunfish nibbling at the bait. Quote
tatertester Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I recall , many years ago, I was petrified at the thought of using the texas rigged worm. At that time I was usinga floating rapalas and spinnerbaits....I caught a fair number of bass ,but, knew it was time to progress to the dreaded plastic worm.......I had read about worm fishing in the fishing magazines , Fishing Facts , and others, so off I went to the bait shop for supplies. Got the worm hooks, worm weights, the worms, some 10 lb test trilene , and a new Lightning rod. $49.00 for the rod was a reach in those days. Bought an Ambassador reel , and I was ready for combat......I distinctly remember those first few casts along a shoreline with mixed weed growth. I was like a spring ready to set the hook. I must have set the hook 20 times, but, no fish. Then I noticed some bluegills chasing my worm.....I wish I could say my worm fishing took off like a jet, but NOT!.....After much trial and error, many false hooksets, much practice and a lot of research,it all started falling into place.......Now I use plastics 70% of the time, and occasionally the floating rapala is put in service ,with many fond memories........Oh , almost forgot, it's likely sunfish giving you those nibbles. Amazng how sunfish rat-ah-tat-tat so fast. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 8, 2015 Super User Posted June 8, 2015 Yeah, I've had my share of weird bites, but believe me, the girl was weird too Roger 4 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 10, 2015 Super User Posted June 10, 2015 Assuming they are bluegills, the bright side is that you're feeling those bites! 1 Quote
Nice_Bass Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 suspended shad or baitballs hitting (swimming into) your line between your jig and rod, bluegill, or crayfish. Any turtle I have caught slams the bait better than most fish ever would. Quote
